I wish I knew about this place beforehand. When mom was first there in the East wing she was left to figure it out on her own for 3 months while I never saw a nurse help her. I did see younger staff, aides & maintenance men helping her. The director of nursing, is she a human? Not sure. She’s rude and insulting to everyone. It’s sad. The new administrator doesn’t seem to have control. There is never a consistent staff in memory care. That is a big problem. You need to know these residents and their needs. As a guest, I know the residents more than most staff. There used to be two TVs in the memory care unit that my mom is in. The director of nursing took out the TV and said TV is bad for them.(no, hello…. I think you need to retake psychology… Especially for dementia) Music is one of the number one things and VIDEOS are beyond brilliant. I said I would donate my mom’s big Screen TV that they refuse to turn on. When you’re finally in the memory care unit, you really can’t do much but watch TV and music videos are wonderful for them. Some of them can do much more, while some can’t move AT ALL. I personally now bring tablets for residents because they only have them staring at the floor, the table or the wall. However, something as small as a tablet with music video literally is changing people’s lives over there……. This is psychology 101 dementia Alzheimer information that the director of nursing doesn’t get. (Just drug them) my mom never even took cough syrup , she doesn’t need all these forced drugs. They just have one TV on all the time volume 4 Days of our Lives (who is able to hear this or watch it? Nobody. I see. …… I wonder how beneficial that is? There are so many things that can be done, but they don’t do anything’s I’m actually upset because If they really did care, minor changes can be big. My mom Who never had to take medication once in her life is now fully dosed up on everything that they can give her just to keep her asleep. She’s the most pleasant, wonderful woman, but she’s now drugged to kingdom come For no reason. Every single resident is lacking fluids massively. My daughter and I will go around and give people water and they drink it like they’ve never had water in their life .I’m furious and since the Director of Nursing put her hand in my face before I even spoke, I needed to speak somewhere. I gave up my medical and full legal POA’s to my brothers, only because it didn’t matter what I had to say after she moved in. They didn’t give me updates, they gave her meds w/o my permission, they billed me 3x more than I signed for. They never ever communicated anything to me. There are a ton of great staff, Charlie is the only one you want to talk to in any front office though. I see it’s not the staffs fault but their bosses. 5 yrs old kids could do a better job as a supervisor or administrator here. Good luck! Human resources is a joke.oh and thank you for the automated response I will get. I believe all good reviews are paid employees or administrators trying to look good. They never even called after I called to follow up. While some good employees stand out, they are under paid and over worked. Never enough staff. Refusing to make small changes out of spite is pathetic. Grow some.
I’ve picked up at Mountain Vista over the years as an agency CNA. The Skilled Nursing side has gotten progressively worse even with their so called management overhaul. The call light system is constantly out, the iPads they use for call lights have to be on a charger so they don’t die, lifts constantly don’t work. They have amazing staff CNAs but most are overworked and burnt out. The staff nurses are ok but most won’t even lift a finger to help the CNAs, there a couple of contract nurses that are great and help out the CNAs. There seems to be no communication when it comes to scheduling. The assisted living side is AMAZING , whoever runs it should train the skilled nursing management or just take over altogether. I’m sure they’ll just remove this review but removing my review won’t make your facility any better or your employees like you. A place that looks this nice using so much agency is a red flag in itself.
Lisa, our Marketing guide, was very welcoming and answered all of our questions. She really took the time to make sure we were comfortable. The facility was clean and modern. We look forward to moving in.
Absolutely appalling and ridiculously understaffed. My father was not only ignored when he was having trouble breathing, but also left in the bathroom for 45 minutes and scolded when he yelled for help after no one responded to the pull cord. Filthy, with loose wires hanging from the ceiling, beds are overly worn out and sagging. There was no guest seating available except for one old wheelchair and the food was all but inedible. We spoke to the head nurse who was rude, then we were given the brush off by the director of nursing and admissions. We had dad transferred to another facility the following day.
Staff is amazing, nice facility, very caring. Lisa and all the staff just went out of their way to accommodate, make sure that questions were answered.
