MEDICALODGES WICHITA

Went to VA and returned to a ransacked and reorganized room. My VA prescribed wheelchair out in the hall. They also took my personal property. THIEVES!!! (I have a photo but don't want to violate HIPPA by posting it) Say goodbye to your wardrobe (even if it is marked).

If I could give this rating a minus I would. The VA contracts with Medical lodges of Wichita and Goddard. I put my husband in Medical lodges of Goddard so I could make sure he got care while I was gone on vacation. When I returned he had a very bad UTI, went septic and had a stroke. I knew something was wrong as they had his stuff at the door. When I went to his room we had to carry him to the car. He went right into the VA emergency. That is not the end. The VA moved him back to Medical Lodge. I was in the hospital with my heart problems as that decision was made. This time it was Medical Lodge in Wichita. The VA doctors said he was medically ready which he wasn’t. They moved him back promising they would care for him. They knew he was trying to get out of bed and had a sitter 7/24 for him in the VA. The CNA left him alone and he tried to get up. The came back in and he was on the floor with a broken hip. This was on Saturday and he was not transported until Monday back to the VA emergency. I was at home recovering from my heart episode that Saturday. I would call and my friend went to check on him. He was in a lot of pain. We had to request pain meds for him. This started on February 7th and he will never come home to me. He will be put in a VA home. I realize Medical Lodge is under the VA umbrella. The major problem is Medical Lodge. The VA has some responsibility by contracting with such a bad place and making the call in putting him back into Medical Lodge. My hopes is other Vets do not have to go through this.

My dad is currently at this facility, hoping he comes home soon. I hardly get anyone to answer the phone , when coming up to visit your lucky to get someone to answer the door bell they have. Really makes you wonder do the long term or short term guest receive attention when needed..

I've voiced my opinion here and let it air out for a while. But I just can't be doing the guilt and blame game for much longer as it accomplishes nothing. I lost my mother on the 26th. This place was her last respite stay from the 1st to the 7th of November, her birthday. She was in such a dramatic decline from there on out. That's all I have to say.

Nursing staff were great. Very friendly. Physical Therapy staff very helpful and helped me get back in my feet.
