BEWARE!!! In the past, Good Samaritan Nursing Home had a great reputation, but since changing to Regency, the quality of care has plummeted. If I could , I would rate them a ZERO! Now, the most important thing to them is the dollar, not the patient. Please read carefully before entrusting your loved one to their care.
The administration's focus has clearly shifted to cost cutting and profit. Rather than staffing locally, doctors are now flown in. This creates an unacceptable lack of continuity and accessibility. Local nurses and staff do not have any idea when a physician will be on site next. If you or your loved one has a medical issue and are not on the doctor's schedule for that specific day, you are out of luck.
My mother is highly allergic to many different medications, a critical detail the facility was aware of. Upon arrival, they took her off her existing blood pressure medication and placed her on something new. When she began complaining of severe nerve pain that we believe was related to the change, the staff ignored her complaints and kept administering the prescription instead of involving a doctor to change the medications. My mother suffered with excruciating nerve pain for two months and ultimately decided to go to Prosser Hospital (on her own accord) to get the issue resolved (which they did in one visit). The level of disregard for a patient suffering and known allergies is unacceptable and dangerous.
The general staff behavior is unacceptable. Too often, they spend more time gossiping in corners than they do taking care of the residents. (As seen in other reviews as well) My mother told me of a disturbing incident during dinner where one elderly lady was shaking so badly she was dropping her food on the floor. Instead of assisting her, staff members cornered up and gossiped, forcing another resident to step in and help the woman with her meal. This is a clear demonstration of neglect and complete failure to prioritize patient dignity and needs.
Good Samaritan used to be one of the best facilities in Yakima Valley, but the decline under Regency is shocking. The facility is now bottom of the list. They have demonstrated that they are not equipped or willing to handle complex medical needs or provide basic, compassionate care. Seek care elsewhere

I can't say enough how amazing and wonderful the staff at Good Sam are! My mom was treated post hip surgery there for several weeks. They took such good care and still are even after discharge, wow too notch! I'd recommend this facility to any family. The food, the care, everyone, even housekeeping. Anyone that works at Good Samaritan has a stake in all patient care. Thank you to everyone on floor 5 and to anyone who helped my mom

After an accident at home and subsequent surgery, I was faced with selecting a skilled nursing facility for my rehabilitation. I confidently left the decision to my wife, and I’m grateful I did.
Upon arriving at my room, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a private space. With no roommate, I enjoyed uninterrupted sleep without the distraction of snoring or television noise. The room was spacious and quiet, providing a peaceful environment whenever needed.
More importantly, the staff was exceptional. The nurses displayed professionalism and went above and beyond to assist with my pain management upon arrival. As my pain subsided, they ensured I received my medications correctly and on time, which made a significant difference in my recovery.
The Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) became a familiar presence, starting each day with a knock at my door around 6:30 am to take my vitals and weigh me. Their daily support was invaluable throughout my stay.
The Physical and Occupational Therapists were dedicated to helping me regain my strength and independence after my fall. They expertly prepared me to return home capable of caring for myself with minimal assistance.
Additionally, my Social Worker tirelessly managed the intricacies of my insurance and Medicare coverage. After about three weeks, Medicare initially denied further skilled nursing treatment, prompting us to appeal their decision, which we successfully challenged every week.
Kathie and I are profoundly grateful for the outstanding care and treatment I received at Good Samaritan in Yakima and the quality of the kitchen services. The food surpassed my expectations for an institutional setting, and I was genuinely impressed as someone with a culinary background.
So, a big KUDOS to Good Samaritans!

The entire team, from start to finish, gave my husband wonderful care during his short-term rehab stay. From Erica for making it possible, to Team 5 (Hi Becky), to Carrie, to the Rehab team for OT/PT, to the food (thank you Libby), my husband was well taken care of. He is well on his way to a full recovery that was made quicker and easier because of Good Sam and their expert guidance and attention. We highly recommend them (thank you Mary for referring them to us).

This is a good care facility. It is clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. They provided good care for a family member who was there post-surgery. She was happy with the care provided. Thank you to all the staff that cared for her. I would recommend this care facility.
