Brookdale Montrose has been an amazing place for my family member to live. There are many activities to keep her engaged & happy. The staff communicates very well regarding the health & wellness of our family member, and it is a very safe place to live. We would definitely recommend Brookdale Montrose!
My mom has been a resident for the past two years in independent living. I can’t tell you how comforting it is to be dropping her off after a day out and her saying “I just love it here, I really do!” After my dad passed we worried about her being alone and depressed but the comfort and care she received after losing my dad was a beautiful thing. My mom has done amazing, she is actually thriving if that makes sense. She has come out of her shell after being a caregiver for years. There are so many things for the residents to be a part of that sometimes she turns down a lunch or dinner date with us because she doesn’t want to miss an outing, or craft class, or menu chat, or the wonderful happy hour offered every Friday! Brookdale isn’t perfect, nowhere is, but the people, the care and the friendships she has made are incredible. The staff gets to know the residents AND the family and are always willing to go above and beyond to help in ANY situation. Kim, Donna, Jesicca, Leslie, Mary, Anna…. I could go on and on. You all are one in a million and such a huge part of why my mom (and I) love Brookdale so much. Not only does my mom feel like Brookdale is home, but I do too. I have gotten to know so many residents and love the friendships my mom has made…. They are truly extended family. If you are looking for a place with lots of fun things to do, great people and caring staff, Brookdale is the place to be. ❤️
Please don’t ever move your loved one in here! This place is a mess. They will talk up a game but in the end it’s nothing but a bunch of crap. No one gets housekeeping like promised. The ED is more concerned about hiding in his office and sweeping things under the rug instead of fixing issues. They say you get a restaurant experience but in reality it’s a bunch of kids with nothing but attitude problems, the director of dining is no where to be found ever, the food is nasty and half the time they set up buffets for the residents. And for holidays they give you a nasty boxed lunch and call it a day half of the time they don’t have an enough for all the residents. And yet again does the ED fix the issue head on nope absolutely not because again he hides instead of taking the problems he has and fixing them. They will move anyone in this place without a care in the world. So please save yourself and don’t let them talk a big game because you will be miserable. Oh and when your loved one is actively passing the ED will ask you to leave a google review instead of giving you condolences about your loved one passing!
Renee was absolutely amazing to work with!! She walked us through the process with the VA to get us the financial help we needed, and actually furnished an apartment for us while we work on getting our own furniture. Our loved one is so happy to be part of Brookdale and is truly enjoying himself. None of this would have been possible without Renee’s help!!
Moved here Mar. 31st, this yr. & it has been a disastrous experience so far from the sales manager changing what she previously told me when I took the tour on Mar. 26th to extremely rude residents to staff NOT following thru on what was promised. Now I'm in Independent Living, do not need a caregiver at this point in my life & am 73!! I'm extremely disappointed & truly thought this would be a great place to live & enjoy my life. I moved from another Independent Living facility, within 2 miles from here, only there 11 mos. & it had serious issues with 7 residents leaving the same day I did!!! Now I will say I have a 1 bedroom paying $30 less than what I was paying for a Studio at the other place & a terrific selection of food choices when they don't run short as the food was horrible at the other place!!! However from having housekeeping breaking an item of mine + bathroom not properly cleaned to the above mentioned issues, so far I'm very sad & disappointed that Brookdale at Montrose is like this. As a retired teacher the residents that I referred to as rude are engaging in " adult bullying" & this needs to stop immediately & be addressed by mng! I've mentioned this to a few other residents who experienced the same treatment when they were new + I was even yelled at by 1 resident council board member in the Dining Hall in the outer room during lunch, so sad!!! Now I'm a larger person, ride a mobility scooter, Dr. ordered however I handle it extremely well & am quite cautious, but it seems to be a problem for these " Adult Bullies"! Never have a hit a person on it or do I hit furniture & I do have a van with a lift in the back. Please reach out to me, so that I can start enjoying my life here & stop crying so much!!! I do appreciate the feedback from someone who apparently is higher up than the Executive Director here & yes, he's been listening to my concerns, there was another situation today, Sat. Apr. 19th & I guess I didn't use the correct terminology when calling down to order a to go Meal! There needs to be a 15 pg. handbook given out when you move in so we know what's the proper terminology for everything + the correct way to do what you're suppose to do as I've been told multiple times by residents who've lived here longer!!! I never got in trouble my 12 yrs. of school, but here every time I turn around I'm doing something wrong, haven't even been ghee 3 wks.!!!!! So 😔!!!!! Hopefully other new residents have a pleasant experience, guess it's not in my world!!!! Tonight, May 18th for dinner I had 4 pkgs. of Saltine Crackers as only pizza & salad was available b/c of the 17 hr. power loss, & power was restored at 5:30 p.m, on the 17th.Now I can't have either of those 2 items due to health issues & I told my server that, was crying while eating those Saltine crackers, asked abt. fruit but she said no, nothing could be got & I told her I couldn't have either of those 2 Items! This ISN'T right at all, that I'm left to be hungry when I'm diabetic!!!!!!!! I'm extremely sad & hungry of course & why after 24 hrs., power had been restored there weren't other choices!!! The grills are rt. outside, couldn't they have been fired up for hot dogs/ hamburgs???? No resident should be treated like this!!!!!!!!! Now July 1st & it's worse here as I feel unsafe here due to so many issues & the Executive Director has done absolutely nothing nor has the regional VP, both are aware & just simply don't care!!! I've reported the situation to authorities & it's in their hands including a lawyer!!!! My mental health is at risk, noone should have to live like this!!!!! Tears flow every day & night, so 😔. I don't know how much longer I can live like this! Now Aug. 13th & at least the Executive Directive was let go a couple of wks. ago & in my opinion that's good news, however will things change here, that is the 64 $ ? The place is in transition with leadership & I can only hope many of my concerns as well as concerns of other residents will be seriously addressed!!! This place definitely needs to come into the 21st century!!!!!
