Rock Creek Senior Living

Mom has been at Rock Creek for a month now, and we are so happy she moved there, and so is she. The staff has been wonderful, encouraging, and they are always so helpful. She has made new friends, loves the food, and everything she has experienced here so far. Thank you so much for making this transition such an easy one.

My mother has lived at Rock Creek Senior Living for just short of two years, during that time moving from Independent to Assisted and now to their Memory Care. Rock Creek definitely deserves the Best of Ankeny award it received for best senior living. The Memory Care unit was built for those suffering with memory loss and is cheerful and easy to navigate with a beautiful big garden in the middle so they can get outside, too. Hannah, the Memory Care director, is incredible with these residents. I so appreciate that she spends her time making their lives worth living, engaging with them not only with fun special activities, but also sitting with them watching TV and explaining what’s happening so they can enjoy the movie more, or taking two or three of them at a time to help her do things. I visited other Memory Care facilities much closer to where I live, but none came close to Rock Creek Memory Care.

We are so happy with the care that my mother is receiving at Rock Creek since she moved in at the end of March! The team members are compassionate and caring. Recently we learned that a couple of the team members specifically (Karrisa and Kanisha) went above and beyond in caring for my mother who has dementia and frequently is non-compliant with and resists cares. On a day not normally scheduled for specific cares, my mother decided she suddenly wanted and requested assistance. Karissa, cheerfully dropped everything and rearranged her day to immediately assist. Additionally, Kanisha has been very creative in how to approach my mother to make her feel more comfortable and open to cares. My mother, originally from Germany, still has a thick German accent which Kanisha picked up on. Kanisha spent some time to do some research and learn some words in German. She then approached my mother with her newly-learned words which I am sure was heartwarming to my mother. My mother was initially very resistant to moving into an assisted living setting, but now continuously tells us how much she likes Rock Creek and how friendly everyone is to her. My family has been very touched by the patience and kindness shown to my mother by the entire team as she has adjusted to her new home at Rock Creek.

My Mom recently moved to Rock Creek Senior Living in Ankeny. At first the move was tough but once she was acclimated to Rock Creek she is enjoying every minute of it. Rock Creek keeps my mom very active through her mind & body with all their activities. It seems they always have something going on: singing, playing drums on exercise balls, playing their form of: beach ball, sock hop. Creating art. Having young children visit and do activities with them. Outings on a bus. Having a dinner menu to pick from like a restaurant. The list could go on and on. I haven't been there yet myself as I live out of State. But many family members have gone and all are impressed. I will be there soon beginning of June 2025. Also, I found this place through a place called mom. They were very helpful with the process.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Rock Creek Senior Living! We were apprehensive about moving my mother-in-law, who had been diagnosed with dementia, from her own home to a senior living setting. She was not open to the idea of moving from the familiarity of her home, but we knew she needed to be in an environment that provided more safety and social engagement. Holly, Tiffany and the rest of the team assured us she would adjust with time. Within 24 hours of moving my mother-in-law in to Rock Creek, we began to see her blossom! She is happy and content and we are relieved that she is in an environment that is so caring and nurturing. The smile is back on her face along with the sparkle in her eye. She so enjoys the activities led by Karin and her team. The move-in was smooth due to the caring team at Rock Creek. Special thanks to Jordan; Janet and Crystal and their entire care team; Molly and the kitchen team; and Robert and his environmental team for making her transition so seamless! We are additionally grateful to Hannah for the dementia caregiver information and assistance she provided to us prior to move-in.
