The care Atria gave my mother in law was nothing short of amazing. The staff was kind, professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, from the directors to the folks who cleaned her room. She actually moved from another high end facility in the area that wasn't a good fit, and really thrived when she switched to Atria. Additionally, the support and help we received was excellent, and there were a number of activities and resources that took the whole family into account.
When other facilities turned my mom away due to her complex needs, Atria accepted her. We were initially relieved, but it quickly became clear they were understaffed and not equipped to care for someone with advanced dementia and a high fall risk. We had to hire 24/7 private caregivers just to keep her safe, leading to confusion and tension between Atria staff and the home care team. Despite paying $11,000 a month not including the hefty cost for the 24/7 caregivers, we witnessed serious lapses: long delays after accidents, a resident wandering into her bed unnoticed, missing personal items—including an expensive wheelchair—and general neglect. Some staff members were kind and professional (shoutout to Spencer), but overall, the care fell far short of what was needed. Thankfully, we eventually found a more affordable, higher-quality facility where Mom could be safely cared for. If your loved one has high needs, I urge you to think twice. Atria's decision to accept my mom seemed more profit-driven than care-focused.
My father is a resident in the Memory Care at Atria Park, (he has dementia brought on by Alzheimer’s) and we could not be more pleased with his care! He is safe, caregivers treat him with respect and kindness, and he truly seems happy. They respond to medical and social needs as they pop up and are consistently looking for ways to make Dad more comfortable. Highly recommend!!
Three months ago, my husband went into Assisted Living at Atria Park in Ann Arbor. It has been a wonderful place for him. He participates in the many activities and appreciates the fact that all the staff members greet him by name. The staff are very cheerful and seem to enjoy each other. They put lots of energy into their jobs and make Atria feel like a real community, with everyone looking out for one other.
Over all, Atria is a nice community with a very nice staff. The daytime Receptionist, Jessica, is extra special. She interacts with the residents and they love her. As mentioned, most of the staff are great and really understand old people!
