I have lived at Atria for two and a half years and it’s been a remarcable experience. I can’t say enough about how great my journrey has been here. When I came here I was in bad shape.i could not even sit up without help. With the most caring help, and knowledgeable staff who truly were interested in helping me as a person, I transitioned from a wheelchair to a walker to a rollator to a cane and now NO assistance. It was the little things also that added up, like waking up and finding someone had come into my room in the middle of the night to “straighten up”, checking up on me continuously, making sure I was comfortable, encouraging me to come to activities. Fox Therapy is in house and worked wonders with highly skilled staff. Nursing was quick. to catch problems. The exercise program was key and made a tremendous difference. Activities were amazing run by engaged life and kept our minds positive and growing, not gloom and doom. Administration is always there for us. Alyssa does the job of 6 people and yet maintains her sense of humor and rapport with the residents. It is for this reason that i now feel confident to move on to independent living. I owe a lot of my progress to Atria. Brenda Mellowe
I want to share our experience with Atria Bethlehem, where our mom lived for just fourteen months, so others can be aware. During her time there, we faced repeated issues, including unauthorized use of her personal room phone and theft of her belongings, including her gold wedding ring and necklace. She arrived with these items but left without them, and they remain missing. Atria employees were using her phone late at night to make long-distance calls while she was asleep. We have phone bills and call logs proving this, which we showed to the prior executive director, who denied the calls were made. For instance, there was no reason for her to have called someone in Nevada at 3:30 a.m. On the day we moved her out, she had to be taken to the emergency room at the request of her new residence. Tests revealed she was severely dehydrated, which clearly indicates neglect by Atria staff. Despite this, Atria executives and the Department of Human Services claimed there was “no proof” of neglect or theft. However, the hospital records confirm the neglect, and the stolen items are still missing. We also learned that DHS received only partial information—they were never told about her hospitalization and dehydration. We then contacted the Colonial Regional Police to report neglect and theft. Several prior theft reports for Atria Bethlehem were already on file, and we obtained a copy of the incident report. When the detective met with the current executive director, she was surprised by the multiple theft reports but stated her investigation could not substantiate our claims. The detective noted that lack of proof does not mean it didn’t happen. If you are considering Atria Bethlehem for a loved one, be extremely cautious. Do not leave valuables in their room or on their person, and monitor belongings closely. If your loved one reports that items are missing, take it seriously.
My Grandmother still always talks about this place being the best place she has lived in. It was heartbreaking for her to move very far away. She loved the staff and the people were polite and friendly. She always talked about a staff member named Millie, and how patient, funny and loving she was, her friends that she had made over the time she spent there. The food was delicious and says how if she moves back take her back home to Atria. Thanks for all everyone has done to support my grandmother. Charlene
I would love to give recognition to a special place and the amazing med tech at Atria assisting living has been nothing but a great place for my grandmother's apartment. 204 Milly has been amazing, going above and beyond to help with laundry meds and even does her bed at night. We are very satisfied with Atria and their staff. Thanks for all you have done.
Working with Atria has been a wonderful experience. Their team is always welcoming, kind, and dedicated to providing excellent care. The activities that they host are always thoughtful and engaging. A special thanks to Dorine, who is incredibly helpful and thoughtful to make every interaction meaningful. We truly appreciate their professionalism and compassion!
