Licensing: RCFEs in California are typically licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
Payment Options: In California, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.
Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. You can verify this facility's license and view inspection reports at California's facility search. Eskaton in Cameron Park is a wonderful assisted living facility. The buildings and rooms are very nice. It is the people who are incredibly wonderful. Not just one or two employees, but every single one of them that I encountered was awesome. Some of them treated my dad as if he was their own father. I never had any doubts when I left for the day, I knew my dad was in good hands. I wish there was a way to vote this 10 stars out of 5, they truly deserve it. Unfortunately, my dad didn't last long enough to enjoy it more. Activities for the residents are constant, both in the activity area, and walks (or wheeling in wheelchairs) around the building outside, to even trips to Cameron Park Lake. My dad wasn't in good enough shape to do much, but they made a point of getting him in his wheelchair, and having him out where he could watch others. He couldn't participate, but he was having enjoyment watching others. My neighbor recommended Eskaton of Cameron Park after his mom was there. His mom loved it there and told him everyone that worked there was so nice. Other residents talked to my wife and I, saying it was a wonderful place. Hospice nurses also praised it. Some of the workers work at different assisted living places all the time, and several of them told me Eskaton Cameron Park was one of the best. I have to agree, My dad was moved from another assisted living place that was not good, so getting him to Eskaton was really great. I could go on and on, with examples of employees there going far above and beyond, trying to help my dad, make him feel more comfortable, helping him eat something when he wasn't into food so much any more. They are one big family there. I have no idea how they found so many special people to work there, that care so deeply for the residents.
Super happy with new director! My mom is finally getting the attention she required! Establishment is clean and great for non-active seniors. I say this because it’s a small facility inside and out. The food is tasty too.
My mother was placed in this Eskaton in 2016, and passed away in February 2018. During the time she was there she sustained approx. 10 falls, the last one face first on the bathroom floor, where she laid for some length of time before she was found with a fatal brain bleed. My sister had medical control of our mother, so any complaints or concerns I had were just seen as meddling. I was never called or informed of my mother's many falls, I would find out from my mother, or from a bandaged cut, or broken bone. In fact, as time went on, I felt entirely unwelcome there. I limited my visits to Sunday afternoons when I could avoid hostile staff... the Sunday staff was great. Small requests of mine were completely ignored. My mother lost a great deal of weight, and she didn't want to eat. I asked if she could have a protein shake for a snack. I was never given an answer. I asked if she could have a vitamin pill... her doctor refused to acknowledge me or my request. She never got either. Her death was by far the worst of it... because she was so frail, but wanted to get out of bed. She needed round the clock care during those final weeks, but didn't get it. I came in during evenings to find her alone, and/or blocked into her bed with furniture. She needed someone there, but only got it part of the time. I've worked full time in the medical field for 30 years. I know what my mother should have had, and I am so sorry I couldn't make it happen.
I placed my wife in Eskaton / Cameron Park a year ago. I can't say enough good about the facility. Staff, cleanliness, dining & food, Medical professionals. As the other review states; not the fanciest. But I give 5 stars!
Wonderful place for my mom. Not overly fancy but nice. Great caring staff that are so kind to everyone. Was so worried but my mom loves it.
