It’s a never an easy decision to place your elderly parent into an assisted living facility, but Walnut House with its caring staff and administrator, Allison Lopez, made the transition an easy one. From the first moment I stepped inside Walnut House, I knew it was the perfect fit for my mom because like my mom, everyone there was warm and welcoming. There was nothing institutional or depressing about the place, but an environment with caregivers and guests who seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. My mom was only there a few days when she declared she had found her “forever home.” Our family found communication with Walnut House to be excellent. At last, we could sleep peacefully knowing our mom would be safe at night. We expected that, but what we didn’t expect was the incredible camaraderie, love, and peace that Walnut House provided during her stay—especially during her final days. Our family will be forever grateful.

This place is awesome.
The staff is caring and very attentive.
My mother had a brief stay of less than a month.
During her stay and even on the day she left everyone wanted her to be a permanent resident.
If my mother is in need of outside care again, either temporarily or permanently I would choose Walnut House.

As a registered nurse with 31 years of experience, including a decade as a nurse consultant overseeing care homes, I have seen both excellent and substandard care. Unfortunately, I must report that my recent experience with Walnut House Assisted Living has been deeply concerning.
My mother, who is 90 years old and sharp mentally, has resided at this facility for approximately a month and a half. During this time, several incidents have occurred that demonstrate a lack of adequate care and attention. For example:
Dinner was not brought to my mother on four occasions, despite assurances from the administrator, Allison, that the issue had been resolved.
On Christmas Day, I found my mother lying in dried urine. After I cleaned her and settled her, it still took staff 30 minutes to respond to the call bell.
The cleanliness of the room was unacceptable, with visible feces on the bathroom walls and a filthy floor. I had to clean her room myself for two hours. When she first moved in, the bathroom lacked basic supplies like soap and paper towels.
The mattress provided was dirty, with what appeared to be fecal stains on the box spring. Despite promises to replace it, no action was taken. I ultimately purchased a new mattress for her myself.
Additionally, I discovered her roommate’s medication bottles improperly scored in the shared bathroom, a clear violation of regulations. This represents a significant safety and compliance concern.
While some staff members, such as Kiki, Tammy, Kaylee, and others, have shown genuine care and dedication, it is clear that the administration, particularly Allison, is not upholding the standards necessary to ensure proper care. Communication has been poor, and follow-up on critical concerns has been lacking.
Given these circumstances, I have arranged for home health caregivers to assist my mother until I can relocate her to a smaller, well-vetted facility. I regret entrusting her care to this facility and hope that necessary changes are implemented for the sake of other residents who may not have someone to advocate for them.
I strongly urge the administration to address these systemic issues and improve the quality of care provided. No family should have to witness their loved one endure such neglect.
Thank you to the dedicated staff who strive to make a difference despite the challenges they face.

There is a comment posted to Google Review about Walnut House Assisted Living. The review is unrelated to Walnut House; we are an assisted living facility, not a SNF. Firstly, we are not staffed with CNAs; we use care aides and Med Techs. Second, every employee must pass a DOJ background check and even a misdemeanor disqualifies them from employment. We have never had an employee by that name, any resident by the listed names and we do not have an HR department to contact. We are a small, family-owned and quiet business. It is terrible to see our facility presented in such a hateful, and above all, incorrect way. We send our condolences to those affected by the situation recited by the previous comment; we all know how hard it is to lose a loved one. We sincerely hope the community does not take such slander and apply it to our facility.
