I initially placed my mother in Phoenix Assisted Care in October 2018 due to a broken right heel and her need to be non-weight bearing for 6-8 weeks. The facility was older, not fancy but clean and met my temporary needs. I also liked the fact that there were no hidden charges and that the monthly fee included medication administration, as much assistance as was needed for each resident, and laundry services if desired. I was told that residents could continue to stay there with hospice if the need occurred. I did have a few concerns during her first week of placement. However, when I spoke to Donna, the administrator, these concerns were quickly addressed. Much to my surprise, I decided that I wanted my Mom to become a permanent resident at Phoenix and she resides there today. The staff is caring, meals are balanced and the facility is clean. Since her placement, the shower rooms have been renovated and updated. They are currently renovating and upgrading all of the flooring in all of the common rooms and resident rooms. Unfortunately my mother's health has declined due to recent hospitalizations and infections. She kept telling me that "she wanted to go home "(meaning Phoenix). Mom is still in this assisted living facility with the aid of hospice and I feel blessed.

The administrative staff is very difficult to communicate with. I left message after message trying to get an update on my mother when I was hospitalized out of state. But Erika would not return any of my calls. When I returned home and confronted her she had no valid excuse. I wouldn't advise anyone to place your love ones here. My mother was hospitalized twice within a month here but the staff said "there was nothing wrong with her". Hint: be wise and look somewhere else.

I live in a neighborhood off of Westhigh up the hill from this facility. Two days ago, I saw a very old woman who could just barely walk, pushing an empty wheelchair on my street. She looked very out of place wandering around, running into the curb with the wheelchair, and stumbling. I went and asked her if she needed any help. She told me her name is Delia and that she was trying to find her daughter's house. She told me she'd come from the Phoenix assisted care facility. I'm shocked she made it as far as she did. The thought of her having crossed steep, busy, winding Westhigh is terrifying. I called the Cary non emergency police and an officer came to help me get her back. If that had been my mother, I would be very unhappy that she was able to just walk (very slowly) out the front door without anyone noticing. Very unsafe. I've never been in the facility but I'd say this experience warrants a bad review.

I am so happy and comforted knowing that my mom is at Phoenix. The facility is always clean and the staff is extremely professional and caring. Mom is in the Memory Care unit there where she is engaged, clean, fully dressed every day and happy. There are many activities planned for the residences. Donna (Mgr) has done a wonderful job in terms of the overall facility and staff, I am very grateful and would recommend Phoenix for anyone wanting a great elderly care residence.

When my mother law had to go into a facility the Phoenix was the place. She went in assistance care on July 13th, 2018. She wasn’t the easiest person without dimentia/Alzheimer’s. I would visit and we watched television and played bingo. She had friends. She slowly became more confused and became difficult. So she was moved into memory care Fall of 2019. Thought she would get better attention from staff. No, Donna who was hands on and wonderful during Betty’s stay at Assisted living was no longer available. We had to go through Crystal. Like pulling teeth. Betty clearly was to much for her and the staff. Betty needed stimulation like all of us but she has vascular dimentia. By 2020 Betty was clearly depressed and neglected. COVID helped Crystal hide what was going on. Very sad. She fell on Mother’s Day they put her in a wheelchair and she was done slowly gave up. Betty was afraid of water and shower’s. Took 4 staff and Betty obviously was scared or hurting so she bit a staff member. That was all it took, 30 day’s had to be gone. Crystal didn’t help, wouldn’t return phone call’s and the worst was Donna wouldn’t talk to me!!!!! Hiding something???? Once I found a new facility things were going well. The staff at Capital were helping me with anything I needed. Once everything was done they moved Betty and no one told us. Found out through email from Capital Nursing in Raleigh. Donna or Crystal not so much as a goodbye and thank you. They wanted Betty out, not us until we realized what was going on. Betty passed away 09-05-20 at Capital Nursing peaceful in her sleep. All I can say is be proactive in your loved ones life.
