Recently moved our mother into Cedar Stone. The experience far exceeded our expectations. Shalane did a fabulous job giving us the tour of the beautiful building and being an advocate for our mother. Every staff person that we have met has been incredibly kind and helpful. The resident community is also very friendly and welcoming. The dining experience is great with plenty of variety. Kudos to Victoria, Executive Director and Team for creating a caring and nurturing environment. We are grateful our mother will be part of this community! Greg C
Dreadful. I had an appointment to look at the facility with a Shalane and based on that experience alone I will not and can not recommend this place. If that is the face of your company, it is no wonder you have so many open rooms. I was hoping to get some information on options for my father, instead I got a very rushed experience since she apparently had to leave and just left me in their dining room. She told me some very troubling things in regards to how this place is managed, I was told that their other facility closed down due to lack of residents and they had to move them here. I want to know my father is in a stable location and he will not have to uproot his life and move again. I also was not interested in hearing her life story, she told us her husband had passed away which greatly upset my mother and the conversation then became about Shalane, I was very annoyed. I also found it very unprofessional how she talked about the high turnover and how she was about the only one left who has not been fired, that does not fill me with confidence at all. I also did some investigating on their reviews to see if this was a one off. Imagine my surprise to find that most of the reviews there are from current or former staff. Very deceptive, I would not trust my father in this community at all. Which is a shame because it is a beautiful building.
I have had the pleasure of visiting Cedarstone Senior Living in Cedar Falls multiple times, and each visit has left a positive impression. The community is beautiful, well-maintained, and feels warm and welcoming. The memory care neighborhood, in particular, stands out for its excellent management and compassionate care. The manager of the memory care section truly cares about the residents and their well-being, creating a supportive and thoughtful environment for everyone. It’s clear that Cedarstone prioritizes both comfort and quality of life for its residents. I highly recommend this community!
i dont really use the web much and created this Gmail just to leave a review. Anonymously because we fear retaliation they owe us money still saying we brokenthe contract and im hear too tell you why and your sales girl didnt tell me he would be hit with a bill for thousands of dollars because of the discounts they dangled to get him to ove in I dont think its right. We recently pulled my father from here and just wasn't happy. The food is not consistent because they can't keep a chef there more than a few months for whatever reason he said to me somehting about them always fighting with one or two of the office gals there i hear me seen there was some big blowup a month back and I come to learn my dad had been eating sandwiches out of their cooler for over a week the food was that bad and he ain't picky. His rent gone up several times and he's not rich and I have a farm to run I brought my dad here so he could be happy and cared for and now I gotta worry he's living out of a cooler and nobody seemed to notice or care. I go to the monthly resident meetings and all the other folk that live there do is complain and the guy mark big boss dont listen he just argue and argue with them and defend hiself and dont do what he tells them he gonna do. Why was my dad paying near 7 gtand a month to live there and he gotta have a plug in heater in the winter so he dont freeze? Now hes roasting in his room because the ac is bad and that was it for me I go to see my dad who is supposed to be comfy and relaxing his final year's and I see him sweating in his chair with his shirt off yall got time and money to play SUPERHERO movies that one really bothers me my dad is 91 years old he dont care about no spiderman and neither do his friends try doing movies they want to watch. I do gotta be fair though and your medical team was great I really liked Mel and my dad still misses the tall young man who mostly took care of him and he kept him good company He is doing a alot better in his new home
My father in law recently had a respite stay here after recovering from surgery. Shalane was an absolute joy to work with getting him admitted, despite many challenges with obtaining full details from the transferring facility and dealing with our family - all mostly long-distance. I am so thankful that they were able to work rapidly to have a space for him (all in under 72 hours if I recall correctly). Shalane had a male coworker (I want to say named Chad) who left a very unfavorable impression with me. He contacted me after having already established contact with Shalane and asked me a list of the most annoying script of questions regarding my father in law and nonsense like what kind of posters they could put on display for him. It was a total waste of my time, but that did not detract from our overall opinion of CedarStone. Shalane's intuitive nature and accommodating demeanor completely made up for the bizarre and irritating solo experience with "Chad". The facility is modern, clean, and absolutely beautiful. The staff all seem to enjoy their job and the amount of activities, amenities and enrichment provided is top notch. The food is extraordinary. I contacted every Assisted Living Facility between Waterloo and Cedar Falls that wasn't a total dump. I was shocked by the costs I was provided by the FEW places that returned my phone calls and emails. CedarStone was more modern than most of the others and also AFFORDABLE. We were BRACING ourselves for a much higher cost than what was presented. My father in law follows their Facebook page, although he is no longer a resident (I could see him going back there in a heartbeat if the conditions ever arose that he would need such care). He interacts with their page with adoration and a longing to be back in their daily graces, and eating their cuisine again. He has stopped in since moving out to spend time with his old pals - both staff & resident. He felt the physical therapy he was able to receive in-house was superb . I would highly recommend this place for anyone to stay or send their loved one (just make sure to ask for Shalane if you speak with "Chad" unless you like feeling as if you're speaking to a robot). I think the only way it could get better would be if they had an indoor pool and loaded events into the mobile app (maybe that's happened since I stopped checking?). Many thanks to ALL those at Cedar stone for making our very special guy feel like royalty with the fantastic care you provided!!! You hold a special place in our hearts!
