Casa Abuela's
Casa Abuela's
Casa Abuela's is a licensed residential care elderly located in Chula Vista, California. Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) provide non-medical care and supervision in a homelike setting for people 60 years and older who are unable to live independently.
Services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. RCFEs also provide meals, housekeeping, laundry, social activities, and 24-hour supervision. Many offer specialized care for residents with memory impairment.
Who We Serve: RCFEs serve older adults who need assistance with daily activities but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care. Residents may include those with early to mid-stage dementia, mobility limitations, or chronic health conditions.
Licensing: RCFEs in California are typically licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
Payment Options: In California, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Contact California Department of Health Care Services or visit https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/AssistedLivingWaiver.aspx to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.
Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. You can verify this facility's license and view inspection reports at California's facility search. For more information about assisted living regulations in California, visit California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

MaryAnn and her staff are phenomenal people. I cared for my Father for years but towards the end the amount of care and attention was too much for me to manage alone. After visiting Casa and meeting MaryAnn I knew it was the best place my Father could be. I am eternally grateful for MaryAnn and Carolina and everyone at Casa. In a time where you are your most vulnerable they are there not only for your loved one but you as well. Casa feels like a home, and that's no accident. Good people make a great home.
I would highly recommend Casa Abuela to anyone that needs assisted living care for a family member. Maryann and her staff are wonderful and make each resident feel cared for. My mom stayed there twice and each time she said the staff was very friendly and attentive. I felt at easy knowing that my mom was safe.
We found Casa Abuela and MaryAnn through a referral, and we will be eternally grateful that our mom had the opportunity to spend the last month of her life there. MaryAnn and the entire staff were truly wonderful—they treated our mom like family. Every time we visited felt like walking into a loved one’s home. The level of care and comfort provided at Casa Abuela is truly outstanding. Our whole family was deeply touched by the love and compassion we experienced during that time. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything.
I was temporarily at Casa Abuela’s until my new home was ready. Maryanne, the owner, has created an environment of love & caring for its residents in a home-like setting which is warm rather than institutionalized. There are plenty of activities which bring everyone together to be creative or to just have fun. Maryanne is a superb cook and baker who serves a wide variety of meals. She trains the other caregivers to follow in her footsteps while still being able to maintain their own personalities. I would not hesitate to recommend Casa Abuela’s to any family member seeking such an environment for a loved one who needs assisted living care. Deborah Art
It became apparent early this year that my mom would not be able to live on her own any longer. We reached out to a friend that helps with finding the right place (Sunshine placement). She told us about a new board and care that was just opening - Casa Abuela's. Mom had the pleasure of being the first resident. It's a beautiful home that feels very welcoming and "like home". There's great shared areas with lots of activity options. Mary Ann goes above and beyond to provide an inclusive, fun, friendly environment. She's always looking for that right thing for each resident to make them feel at ease. She and her team prepare delicious home made meals. She is always creating games and other fun and challenging things to do. This is the perfect home to have transitioned to and we are so fortunate to have found it. Everyone there feels like family to not just my mom, but to her family as well.
