I moved my grandmother here almost two months ago. I am so thankful I found the team and community here at Brookdale Farmington Hills North. The staff is caring, kind, and professional. My grandmother is doing so well and is so happy here. I'm grateful.
My family member was originally in another memory care facility which was okay. My kids and I were hoping for something more and we ended up moving my wife to Brookdale Farmington Hills North. We have been very pleased with the facilities and the excellent staff. I just found out that the mother of one of my friends lived there 10 years ago. When our friend visited my wife she mentioned to a staff member that 2 staff members were particularly supportive and loving to her mother. They were both still at Brookdale. It is quite a compliment that the staff members have stayed for a long time!
In February 2024, I contacted Brookdale Senior Living (Farmington North) to inquire about the admission of my sister. I received an immediate response which resulted in meeting with and tour by Dan Spencer, Sales Manager. I did not know what to expect however I experienced what I wanted for my sister, a well maintained, organized, attention-to-detail setting which will care for her and keep her safe. My goal was to visit 5 assisted living settings then, make a decision. However, I decided during my visit to select Brookdale. I cancelled the other visits. A few days after meeting with Dan, I contacted him again to inquire about the admission of my brother-in-law. As with my sister, he provided the same attention to my questions and my brother-in-law’s needs. Now, both are residents of Brookdale. I have interacted with and observed many Brookdale staff and they all display the same qualities - genuine interest in the residents, respect of residents and their families, and willingness to ensure the needs of the residents are addressed. – Gwen Cook (March 14, 2024)
My mom has been at Brookdale Farmington Hills North for 3.5 years. The staff is very friendly and attentive to her specific needs. I feel like they really care about her. They have persevered through all of the covid restrictions and staffing shortages that are going on at all health care facilities. The newer nurses and director are available to contact with any concerns. Brookdale has accommodated her gluten free diet. It was very difficult to find any facility that would do that. Lots of activities and they encourage her to participate in them.
If Brookdale could fix their labor problem (rotating doors of health care workers), this would be a great place. BUT, as anyone knows, this makes or breaks the care. My father-in-law was left sleeping most of the day with dirty clothes. They woke him for meals but when he refused to have help eating, they gave up. No strategy for helping dementia patients? And don't get me started on showers. When we finally moved him to a beautiful, caring, loving private home (really the way to go!!), they were appalled with his hygiene. Before moving your loved one to this place, check out out private homes in the area! But do NOT use "A Place for Mom." Call hospice companies and get referrals. Then visit and see how the other residents are cared for.
