Brookdale is a clean and safe place for loved ones. The staff is attentive, supportive, responsive, and knowledgeable about how to provide residences and their families in getting best care available they need. I would highly recommend Brookdale Ft. Collins to those whose family member that may be considering a quality care assisted living facility, with five star services. They strive to provide the best for loved ones. The staff is awesome. I give everyone honors - especially Jenna. She's the best! ☆☆☆☆☆

Do not send your loved ones here. Both of my grandparents lived at Brookdale, and we had a terrible experience. My grandfather passed away in the memory care unit after falling and breaking his hip- something we believe could have been prevented if staff had been more attentive. When I visited him, I saw residents left sitting at tables for hours, often given medication that seemed to make them fall asleep. In assisted living, my grandmother would press her call button and sometimes wait over 30 minutes for help. Some staff were rude, and she didn’t receive the care we were promised or paid for. We moved her to another facility and wish we had done it sooner. Please think twice before trusting this place with someone you care about.

I strongly caution anyone thinking about placing their loved one in this nursing home. I was assigned to a quarantined resident here through a third-party elderly care agency. My role was strictly to supervise the client and ensure she remained in her room under Covid protocols — not to perform medical or nursing duties. Despite that, a nurse repeatedly yelled at me, including one instance where she was upset that the resident wasn’t eating. I had already tried encouraging the client, but we are not allowed to — and legally cannot — force a patient to eat. Her tone was aggressive, and the interaction made me so uncomfortable that I left the assignment early. She also criticized the Covid protective attire I was wearing, even though it had been provided by the nursing home itself. At one point, I had to lock the room door to prevent another resident from walking in — a reasonable safety step due to quarantine — and the same nurse accused me of “hiding something,” which was completely inappropriate. Additionally, the resident’s bathroom was in extremely unsanitary condition, with fecal matter on surfaces that went uncleaned for several days, even after I reported it to multiple CNAs. Based on what I witnessed firsthand, I would not feel comfortable placing a family member here. The lack of professionalism, respect, and cleanliness was deeply concerning.

My mom has been at the Brookdale in frot Collins for almost three years now. It has changed drastically over the last three years... First, the food quality and choice has gone down hill. The residents always had several choices for each meal. Now it's no choice. Or limited choice at dinner. The quality is worse. Service is slow, because there is no kitchen staff. So, nurses, CNAs and care givers are now servers. Plus, the head chef has changed over half a dozen times. Second, they have gone through four activity directors. So, activities and fields trips rarely happen. If they go anywhere, it is a dollar store or good will... three years ago they would go to dairy farms, national parks, etc... Big difference. Third, the nursing director has also changed over half a dozen times. They can't keep nurses, CNAs or caregivers. I only recognize 3 caregivers from 3 years ago..... Forth, medicine is given by a Certified Med tech. This person preps all the meds twice a day, but gets paid about 20 bucks an hour. Yet the nursing home charges 1500.00 per resident per month. The resident has to still pay for their meds on top of this fee. If you use in house meds, through Omi care, you pay three times as much for the same meds at the pharmacy. So, the bill now become closer to 2000.00 a month depending on what the resident needs med wise. Let's do some math.... 50 residents X 1500 = 75,000 bucks per month Pay med tech who also operates as a CNA and care provider. 3 hours of prep and distribution of meds per day. 3 x 20= 60 bucks a day, for 30 days = 1800 bucks. Net profit for facility = 73,000 bucks. I know there is insurance costs, etc... but come on!! And I am leaving out the cost of the meds....lol Fifth, price....5,500 bucks per month. Then anything else is extra.... Sixth, no staff!! There is maybe 12 caregivers total. I also learned they cover BOTH units. Which shocked me. Which means three to five caregivers per shift are covering roughly 60 to 120 residents..... That in itself is scary!!! Seventh, the operations director has changed four times... I could go on.....and on.....and on...but sadly most care facilities are just as bad..... So, please do your research before you place your loved one in any facility. I would WAIT to see if this place gets its act together before placing your loved one here....
