My sister and I always promised my mom. We would not put her in a place, a convalescent home for sure, but it got to where we couldn’t even leave the house without her needing something or falling down. Her memory was going faster each day. We shopped around for facilities and knew what we wanted. There was a show on Netflix called the Inside man and he was a an old guy living inside a senior assisted living place. I told my sister if we could find a place like that… that would be the greatest, but I thought there would be nothing like that. After visiting Sunrise, we knew immediately. This is the place that we will pick for our mom. We always would tell people it’s like living on a cruise ship. You got everything there…. the nurse, the doctor all the caretakers are the greatest & friendliest bunch of people you will ever meet in your entire life. Seeing is believing so if you have a question about this, you have to go visit, you won’t believe it. Linen tablecloth’s, they have games, activities, rides. The list goes on and on. If you’re feeling bad about putting your mom or dad some place this will help. Sunrise was our second home too. Our mom only ended up being there four months but for us and for her it was the best last four months. She continually saw people 24 hours a day. She was a little bit active. There’s a person there that even does hair and nails you can’t beat this place. Your heart will be at ease if you end up putting your mom or dad there. We did feel bad, but I know she got more attention there than she did living at my house. There are so many people to Thank and be Thankful for.
My mom is very happy at Sunrise and we feel very comfortable that she is safe and well taken care of. ALL of the staff are friendly, warm, and professional (which was not always the case at my mother's previous facility). More importantly, they all seem to enjoy working with the residents! We're very happy with our decision to move mom into the Reminiscence Neighborhood at Sunrise.
I want you to know that I am not a pushover. I've got an extensive background in Senior Care and facilities in So NV and CA. When visiting Sunrise for the first time, I came with guns a-blazing. I was not going to be deceived again. Well, L.A. bonded with me quickly. She's got such a beautiful spirit... I felt embraced. Maybe, just maybe what she was presenting was real??? And, she's lived what I am living. All 'Management' at Sunrise has gone through the trials and tribulations (some still are) of being Caregivers themselves. To me, this made it real. I wasn't being sold (again) by some corporate sales person. I WAS being understood by someone who was or who is, in my shoes. Tears were shed by all. Valerie, Director of Sales, is not only a Caregiver herself, but went out-of-her-lane to guide and comfort me. Ashlee, the ED, well she's as real as you can get. She started as a Caregiver at Sunrise. Who better to build and lead an incredible, compassionate team than one who has been at Ground Zero? She knows the various tasks at hand, firsthand, and that, I believe, is why her Unique, Amazing Team is the true Leader in Senior Living and Care. Marie, Reminiscence Coordinator, too started as a Caregiver at Sunrise. She's an extremely busy lady, but always has time for me. Her smile and love for what she does, well... it keeps me going. Her love and compassion is emanated by her very special team of Caregivers. Tarynn, Reminiscence Director, is off-the-charts amazing. From our first meeting at my family member's assessment, I was captivated by her knowledge and knowing. She too, is always there for me. AND, I cannot leave out my Ray of Sunshine... Mary at the front desk. She's my anchor. BUT, the only thing of importance or validation is how my family member is doing? Well, in two days, he will celebrate his one month at Sunrise. He came from basically bedridden, in his room, with no social interaction, to walking to/from meals on his walker and wanting to spend a lotta time in the living room with other residents. To me, this is a miracle. Yes, he does have a DPT come in three times a week, but if he didn't have the WILL to get up and walk to meals and living room, well, PT would have no impact. My family member feels safe, happy, and loved here at Sunrise and he prefers their meals to take out! I feel incredibly blessed and gifted. You have no idea what it is like to finally feel that I have made the very best decision for his care and happiness, and this time, I made the right decision. Update: Today's Celebration was Amazing. For the very first time in 81 years, Dan E played BINGO.
I scheduled a tour to find a suitable assited living for my mother in law. This was the 2nd assisted living I toured and I walked out of there "wowed" everything from the kindness of Miss Perez , making sure she explained all they had to offered and really listening to our needs. She gave me a full tour and the residents were happy and engaging with Miss Perez it was a feeling of family. I cant say enough of how impressed I am . Michelle Pereira
My mom is a resident at Sunrise of Henderson on the reminiscence memory care floor. The caregiver staff are amazing and spend so much time making sure the residents have what they need. My mom requires a high level of care and they will sit with her and feed her for as long as she needs. They are kind and so invested in the well being of their residents. This is my mom's 3rd facility and she is very frail but we are very happy with the care she gets at Sunrise. I wish had moved her to Sunrise sooner.
