The Ashford at Sturbridge

We moved my mother-in-law into Ashford at Sturbridge in Jan of 2022 and we’ve been through lots of changes over her 3 years there. But, I want to share that the new director, Tammy, is absolutely wonderful! My husband and I met with Tammy and Anita (director of care) and they are both making so many wonderful changes to make the residents (& residents loved ones!) happy. It warms our hearts to see my MIL as happy as she has been recently!

I took a tour with Kristy the sales director. She is so kind and knowledgeable about the facility. Gave me great tips on how to have “the conversation” with my mother. Even though my mother refuses to move at this point because she doesn’t want to leave her home (of 40 years). This would be the place. I also met some of the amazing staff including the new executive director Tammy. She gave me her card and said I could call any time with questions. The care is the most important thing to my family and I for mom… with these attitudes and nice staff it’s the place to be. If your mom ( or dad ) is actually ready and not refusing like mine, please check them out!

The Ashford at Sturbridge has a new director and chef. My mom has told me the meals are so much better. My mom said the food used to be cold when it got to the table, now it’s warm. There are also more choices for the meals. I have seen other improvements since Tammy, the new director, took charge. She has been very responsive to any concerns.

The food is terrible 😔. Most of the nurses and aides seem to be caring. Sometimes they get your medications wrong, and it takes awhile for it to be straightened out. Overall I would say that the rooms are nice. There are plenty of activities, and you can probably find some that interest you. The staff are always pleasant and they even remember your name after a little while.

I recently visited my grandma who has been at the Ashford for over a year now. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing and our family has wondered if we made the right choice several times. I hadn’t been able to visit for a couple of months. However I was blown away at my most recent visit. Not only is the building looking gorgeous, but my grandma has been raving about the food and the new Executive Director Tammy. My grandma seems so much happier. This has helped put any question of whether we made the right choice to bed. We know she is home. I would give more than 5 stars if I could for the smile my grandma has again!
