Brookdale Johnson City

I'm not the one who pays the bill for my mother to stay here, thank goodness, and I have made only a few visits. The building and the grounds are very nice. The staff is very nice and helpful and they keep up with Mom's meds and keep the room clean. They take care of laundry and provide meals but I hear the lunch is pretty awful. I haven't heard an opinion about breakfast and dinner. The rooms are small so that might explain the small toilet. The shower is a fiberglass stall and plastic shower curtain, prone to allowing water to get on the floor. A bit more cabinet space would be helpful.

I placed my father in the care of Brookdale Johnson City in January and the care has been outstanding. They keep me apprised of what is going on in my father's life and have been extremely supportive of me, while also offering outstanding care for my father. They are addressing all of his needs and more, which has set my mind at ease since he did live two hours away by himself. I have had three sisters and a cousin visit him as well and they have praised the facility as well, saying I made a good choice. I believe I did and have absolutely no regrets as my dad lives out the latter stage of his life. They have been a blessing.

We at Avenues Home Care worked with Brookdale Johnson City with a resident that was moving in before she moved in. Since she has moved in she has done amazing. I am very impressed with how they have helped her settle in and how warm, encouraging and welcoming they have been to her. The entire staff go above and beyond to make all of their residents feel loved and supported.

This place is a lifesaver. My mom was at a different facility for about 5 months and the facility she was at also killed her. We found Brookdale through Hospie and this facility has saved my mother. She is thriving now. Couldn't be more grateful for the staff and caregivers. They love my mom and she loves them.

As a professional musician and full-time entertainer, I perform approximately 200 shows per year at various senior communities, in addition to my other many musical endeavors, and the shows I've played at Brookdale Johnson City over the last ten years or so are truly some of the most memorable, and I have met, befriended, and fell in love with many there whom I will never forget. As usual, the outward beauty of the facility is only part of the story...the real beauty is in the hearts of the people there. Susan Katko, the Life Enrichment/Activities Director is the most cheerful, warm, and loving person toward her resident family that I know of, and every time I am there to perform, she is right in the middle of things, celebrating and participating with her beloved residents. Love is impossible to fake for very long---maybe one could get away with faking it for a short time---but having known and worked with Susan for about a decade, I can say that she always behaves as if God Himself is watching (and He is), and I have never played a show for her and her residents where she doesn't have them assembled, happy, and involved. If I had a loved one who was in need of senior care, and had heard the senior care speech about "your loved one's quality of life being our number one priority here...", this is one facility, thanks to the love and care and EFFORT of the staff, where I believe that platitude to be true. I have many beautiful memories of friends and members of the Greatest Generation I have made there, and look forward to many happy returns with my rockin' peeps at Brookdale Johnson City!
