About

Belmont Village La Jolla

Belmont Village La Jolla is a licensed residential care elderly located in La Jolla, California. Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) provide non-medical care and supervision in a homelike setting for people 60 years and older who are unable to live independently.

Belmont Village La Jolla has a licensed capacity of 220 residents. Services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. RCFEs also provide meals, housekeeping, laundry, social activities, and 24-hour supervision. Many offer specialized care for residents with memory impairment.

Who We Serve: RCFEs serve older adults who need assistance with daily activities but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care. Residents may include those with early to mid-stage dementia, mobility limitations, or chronic health conditions.

Licensing: RCFEs in California are typically licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.

Payment Options: In California, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Contact California Department of Health Care Services or visit https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/AssistedLivingWaiver.aspx to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.

Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. You can verify this facility's license and view inspection reports at California's facility search. For more information about assisted living regulations in California, visit California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division.

Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

We’re very happy to be here at Belmont village la jolla. I would rate more than 5 stars due to all the staff here all hard working and efficient on their assigned duties, big thank thank you to the morning care giving staff. Would definitely recommend to all my friends. Allison A, Daniela M such great example of what a caring, loving yet thoughtful caregiver means always going above and beyond their duties.

My experience with Belmont Village regarding the care of my mother was deeply disappointing. Despite paying for 24/7 caregiving in addition to very steep monthly fees, I observed numerous issues that left me questioning the quality of care provided. Critical care instructions, including those related to medication timing and post-hospital discharge, were not consistently followed. There was a persistent lack of communication among staff, making it difficult to confirm whether my mother’s care needs were being met. For instance, I was not informed of key health issues, and when I raised concerns about her condition or treatment, they were often dismissed or deflected as someone else’s responsibility. Cleanliness was another major issue. On several occasions, I found my mother’s room in an unacceptable state, with bodily fluids left uncleaned until I specifically requested it. Maintenance requests made at the time of move-in went weeks without being addressed, contributing to an overall sense of disorganization. Even more troubling, a fall resulting in an ER visit occurred while a personal caregiver was supposed to be present. This incident, coupled with delays in arranging care for her return from the hospital, left me deeply concerned about the facility's reliability. While my mother’s condition was serious, I feel that the inconsistencies in care and lack of accountability likely impacted her comfort and quality of life. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone seeking attentive and compassionate care for their loved ones.

The building is a beautiful high-rise with a lovely feel when you walk in the front doors (almost like a resort & spa). The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The food is good too!

Happy with all of the staff. James the director is wonderful, always responds to our questions and needs for my mother-in-law. The PT and OT are so positive and encouraging working with her as well as Daryl who leads the team. The care team at the Belmont are all helpful, always attentive to the residents needs. Very grateful to everyone who works there. They do a terrific job in a beautiful setting. Thank you!

I feel compelled to express my serious concerns about this facility. James Arp's communication and leadership skills are horrendous, which is particularly concerning in a role that involves working with seniors. The management team exhibits troubling behavior towards staff, subjecting them to excessively long hours—some employees are forced to work for weeks without a weekend, with shifts running from 6 AM to 11 PM. The environment is hostile, with HR failing to adequately support employees and instead siding with management, undermining trust and morale. There is also open beratement of both staff and residents, with James Arp often looking down on others, which contributes to a toxic atmosphere. The consistent understaffing and high turnover rates highlight the underlying issues in management practices. It’s disheartening to see a facility that should prioritize care and support instead foster such a challenging work environment. edit: after writing their response the management team tried to have this comment removed
