When visiting Arden Courts it feels very inviting and homelike. The residents are engaged in daily activities and this helps provide a routine and structured day for those living with dementia. I highly recommend touring and seeing for yourself!
We placed my mom in Arden Courts for respite care. She had such a great time and enjoyed all of the activities. We got photo updates and text messages on how she was doing. She even got her nails and hair done while there and she loved it. We definitely would use them again for respite care.
My father was a resident at Arden Court - Livonia. I have removed my father due to multiple occurrences of witnessed neglect by the Arden Court staff as it relates to my father’s care . Within the last month, my father was not offered breakfast on multiple occasions, and was left sitting in his room alone in the dark, was left to sit covered in his own feces, and experienced other instances of extreme lack of care. Specifically, on September 20, 2025 and October 6 2025, upon arriving at Arden Court at, I found my father in his bed, without having been changed, and more so, without having received breakfast. Residents are served breakfast at 8:00 a.m. I was repeatedly told that the facility was “short-staffed” and that’s why my father was not given breakfast. No further explanation was given. There was no attempt by the staff to get him dressed and fed when confronted. In response to this lack of care, despite daily grooming and meals being included in my monthly payment, it became my responsibility during these instances to get my father out of bed, change both his clothes and bedding, and purchase breakfast for him elsewhere. That my father went without meals on multiple occasions because the facility is “short staffed” is simply unacceptable. On October 7, 2025, I arrived at Arden Court to visit my father. He was seated in the common room with two (2) Certified Nurse Assistants (“CNA”)seated on either side of him. I hugged him and instantly noticed the smell of feces. I took my father to his room and discovered that he was completely covered in feces from the waist down. Although this discovery was made only a few moments after seeing him with the CNAs, when I went to seek assistance, they were gone for the night. As such, I had no choice but to clean up the mess, clean my father, and change his bedding until I eventually found someone to assist. Finding my father in that condition with no staff readily available to assist is disgraceful to say the least. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed my father’s needs and care be neglected by the Arden Court staff. I have had to step in to perform duties that I have continued to pay for each month, yet have not consistently been fulfilled. As such, I have transitioned my father out of Arden Court’s care.
I write this review as a way of giving heartfelt thanks for the tender care our mother received at Arden Courts. She was with us for 98 years and in their care for the last six weeks of her life. I can’t begin to express the comfort that Arden Courts gave both her and our family as they cared for her until her very last breath. From the moment of admissions, the administrative staff provided clarity and guidance as our family made the difficult decision to place her in memory care. The med-tech team, nursing staff, activities & events coordinators, maintenance and support staff, absolutely everyone, was both professional & skilled and kind & compassionate. Often, it was a simple act of kindness that seemed to touch our family the most ~ painting my mother’s fingernails, gently caressing her hand, or “styling” her hair. It was witnessing maintenance workers escorting residents safely back to their living areas, sharing words of reassurance along the way. Watching med tech’s chit-chat with residents in common areas as though they were neighborhood friends. Ultimately, it is knowing that all of this simple human kindness happened alongside the often difficult tasks associated with the support of memory care patients. The work that they do is heroic, selfless, and honorable. The memory of our mother will always and forever be linked with the kind spirit of Arden Court’s care.
Arden was a great place for my dad while he was still able to be independent. He was only there for about 3.5 months before his medical situation required him to move on to another place with more intensive care. The staff was awesome. Everyone knew his name and situation and assisted him in any way he needed. The outdoor area with walking trails and benches and gathering areas was top notch. The option to be outside with him was great for both of us. Thank you Arden Court for a great experience.
