Merrill Gardens at Madison

My father has been a resident for about a year now and he loves the facility. The staff and residents are always extremely friendly and helpful. The most important thing for him is having good food, ensuring his medications are dispensed accurately and having an onsite gym. Merrill Gardens does a great job with all of his needs. Very clean units and grounds and plenty of activities to do. We are very happy he is a resident there.

My mother lived at Merrill Gardens. One thing I observed is that on certain days, the staff performed excellently, while on other days, their performance was quite lacking. We have reported this issue on several occasions. We have also noticed that the staff members who previously attended to my mother, who were excellent workers, are no longer employed there. I suggest that cameras be installed in the rooms. At one point, my mother was unable to walk. A staff member essentially threw her into her chair, even though she was attempting to walk. The staff member remarked, 'I don't have time for y'all today.' This is not a nursing home. This incident was brought to the attention of upper management. To my knowledge, the staff member involved is still employed. My recommendation to any potential resident is that the use of cameras should be allowed.

I’m impressed with the quality of care the staff gives the residents!!! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I’m a caregiver, not an employee of Merrill Gardens, but if I wasn’t retired, I would definitely be applying for a job there. Keep up the good work and positive vibes!!!

My grandmother lived here for 3 1/2 years. She wanted to leave a review but doesn’t really do all the Internet stuff. I’m leaving a review on her behalf because this place was so special to her. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and made me feel right at home. I knew once I walked into the door that I was right where I was suppose to be. The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. The only reason I left was due to family relocating. My mother has been at Merrill Gardens for almost 5 years. Due to a fall, she has required more assistance the past several weeks so I have been with her 8-12 hours every day. I have been able to observe and get to know the staff during that time and they have been wonderful. They truly seem to care about the residents and many, many times went the “extra mile” to be sure not only my mom, but that all residents received the care they needed AND were made to feel that they mattered. I have also been very pleased with the residents themselves, who seem happy and truly have a sense of community. I would recommend Merrill Gardens to anyone!
