Bristal is an amazing place. Our father has been at 2 other senior assisted living centers and this one is by far the best. The place is beautifully appointed, the rooms and facilities are specifically designed for the residents to access everything easily. Dining options on many floors and food is pretty good for a senior assisted living home and we can easily just join in for a meal in the lovely main floor cafe or on dad’s floor. They have plenty of activities and trips to attend that he’s done more while he’s been here than most of his dedicated work/life. What makes this senior assisted living place exceptional is the great staff, their personal attention and friendship with each resident and their genuine care for what my dad personally needs. Most of the team knows my dad, they know what he likes and what he needs, what he loves to eat as well as what he should or should not eat so much. The Bristal team is proactive, collaborate well together and they are pretty responsive to us. Tei at the front desk is amazing. Whenever appropriate, staff will share their direct contact information with us so we can communicate directly to figure things out. We’ve never experienced this kind of customer service and attention to detail before. My dad’s favorite aide on his floor is Alecia Ford. She’s amazing with him and she knows just how to work with him to support him and get him to do the things he needs to do. She’ll even reach out to us if dad needs something. We know how aides have to juggle taking care of many residents at the same time but they also make a point to let the team figure things out so that my dad gets taken care of by his fav Alecia whenever it’s possible. We do have to communicate with Bristal occasionally on what dad needs and how he needs it, but the team steps up, collaborates with us until we figure it out. They are attentive and they follow through. My dad is happy, in great condition and has fewer health incidents here. We saw a picture of him on the day he moved in to Bristal a couple of years ago. Today dad looks happier and he actually looks more vibrant and healthier. We attribute a good deal of this to the amazing team and the great care he gets here. 😊 UPDATE My dear father passed away in January 2025. My family, will be forever indebted to Bristal for helping my father have the most graceful dignified last few years of his life. This end of life caregiving work is not easy. And yet this amazing team still gives their all every day, they treat the residence with such respect. No matter how curmudgeon someone might be. My father was given such incredible support 24/7 day and night. Thank you to everyone at Bristal.

My 99 year old mother is at the Bristal in New York, while I am in Baltimore, Maryland. Although my sisters are in NY and able to follow my mother’s care more closely, there are times when they are not available and I need to be informed and her caregivers need to be accessible. I have been very pleased with both the care and communication on my mother’s health and care status from the Bristal. I have visited several times and found the rooms, halls and gathering areas to be well-lit and well-appointed, readily accessible and with great amenities like partially enclosed terraces and comfortable sitting areas.

Where do I begin on how forever gratefuI I am to the Bristal for the care and love they show my mother every single day. My mother has always been a very independent person. Somehow, they have found the perfect balance of caring for her when needed and also allowing her independence. Not an easy thing to manage while caring for a 99 year old. The Bristal has continued to go above and beyond in their kindness to her. In the most respectful and delicate way, they have helped her to assimilate to being part of a community. This was not very easy for her as she is quite a private person. My mother just said today that she was woken up by the sweetest person who always smiles and gently chats with her. She very much looks forward to the afternoon shift when her aids come in to check on her if she is in the room. They do not blow in and out. They chat with her, laugh with her and it is beautiful to see. She said in the one year she has been here, she continues to be amazed how everyone is so incredibly kind and caring to her. If I listed all the people there who have a hand in making her feel safe and always cared about, this review would be pages long. In addition to their incredible staff, the entertainment/daily activities is truly outstanding and intellectually stimulating.. Broadway actors present. Well regarded authors speak. They have wonderful documentary series. Trips to the ballet, Yankee Stadium, Broadway shows, museums and Juliard performances. It is truly impressive. Their garden room is one of her favorites. The yoga studio and art studio are so beautiful and well outfitted. And.. the library is fantastic! The patio is large enough so many families can gather. It's so nice for her to see loved ones of other families come to visit the people she has come to know. In closing, let me say that this kind of environment could only be possible when the true caring and respect starts at the top. I don't know how the heads of the departments "always" have time to talk to you. It's incredible. They are always thinking of how can they make my mother's experience better and reach out to share that with me on a regular basis. All I can say is thank you for all that you do and how much you care. I cannot recommend The Bristal enough.

Compared to other facilities I have went to for information The Bristal Assisted Living at York Avenue is by far the best, The reception received there from the Receptionist Tay at the front was very amazing, I then spoke with the marketing department and oh boy she was even better. I also had the opportunity to have a moment with the ED Ryan and overall, they are 10/10 for me. I have since told my friends about them.
