Gianna Homes Gladys' Place

I have had two clients at Gladys Place and the care and compassion has been outstanding. Medications are administered in a timely manner and adjustments are made as needed. Nursing monitors the clients closely and communicates with the medical provide and me in a timely manner. Not only is the care outstanding, but my clients became part of a family while living there until the end of life. Also, my clients were always well groomed and clean. I am so grateful for the quality of life that my clients had at Gladys Place. Thank you to the outstanding staff.

I was there for my loved ones last day all 24 hours . The place was dark, kind of creepy and the staff were not attentive al all. No other residents were actively doing things, everyone seemed to be quite and in wheelchairs. It was not a beautiful and peaceful transition due to medication being given incorrectly. When it was finally given correctly, my love one passed quickly . I wouldn't put anyone I loved here. Creepy.

My loved one walked into Gianna's on his own 2 feet (an important distinction), with the idea that he was going to get more focused attention and individual care because of a smaller ratio of residence to staff. Our family was told there would be active interaction with the residence, music therapy and other therapeutic methods that would be used to achieve the proposed individualized/focused care. The actual result is that NOTHING could be FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH! The REALITY is that immediately after moving in, while our loved one was getting adjusted to a new place, people and surroundings in the first few days. The immediate course of action from the Gianna's team was to medicate him to the point of extreme sedation, so that he did not disturb the staff! This sedation was to the point that he was asleep in the chair all day every day and not moving, not eating and resulted in his inability to be mobile when he had just WALKED into the place days earlier. The staff at the direction of the nurse issued PRN (as needed med’s) automatically when they were not needed. He was in the chair asleep in the chair, and they continued to issue sedating medications. This was so severe, that one time I walked at dinner time and our loved one was laying on the floor with the staff walking around him, like nothing was wrong. Not helping him up or attempting to help him. The staff did not exhibit any compassion or attempt to find alternative solutions. This continued. NONE of the therapeutic methods promised happening. This account of care is from me directly as the person who witnessed this firsthand! I was there 22 of 28 days he was in Gianna’s. This persisted and he did not come out of nor was able to recover from the extreme sedated state the Gianna’s nurse and team put him. He paid the ultimate price died 28 days after entering Gianna’s. Save your loved one! DO NOT believe what they tell you! DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN GIANNA’S. They too may pay the Ultimate Price like my loved one did! PS: As someone who was there nearly daily, I observed that of the following: Of the 14 residents at Gianna’s ONLY 1 person was mobile on her feet and verbal. ALL others were confined to a wheelchair, nonverbal and appear to be sedated. I wish I could give zero stars.
