My mother Kathleen has been a resident at Brandywine for four and a half years and she very much enjoys her home here. Our family is very pleased with the staff, who show professionalism, and most importantly, kindness towards the residents. My mother shares with me daily, the many wonderful moments she experiences with a variety of staff members each day, from housekeeping, maintenance, Wellness and Activities as well as the wonderful Dining staff, and Physical Therapy, who respect her dignity and treat her with kindness. Tiffany, a nurse in the Wellness department is one of many who exemplify the kindness and professionalism to which I am referring. I visit my mother frequently and can attest firsthand to these daily staff interactions, and have witnessed the attention given to make the residents feel safe, secure and cared for, and comfortable each day. With so many caring people working here, I highly recommend Brandywine and am so happy to have my mother here- it continues to be the perfect place for her and for our family. A special thanks to Josh and Kelly for always being so helpful, knowledgeable and caring!
My mother has been at Brandywine Living at Princeton for over three years now and loves it! She has a large Studio on the 3rd floor with a private bathroom, three big windows, and has individually controlled heat and A/C. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is but let me confine it to one area. The Activities Department is nothing less than spectacular! And when you live in a place like this, you need a great Activities Director and staff and an incredible variety of activities to pick from. I’m not talking about the normal things like Bingo, concerts, or movie nights, but things like bus trips to a famous hot dog stand for lunch and sitting by a river to watch the scenery. Also, an incredible arts & crafts program where wall hangings, decorative plates, stuffed animals, and the like are made. Cool activities are also done such as music videos choreographed and recorded, which are then shared on-line, and contests held with other assisted living facilities for “best of” awards. I could go on-and-on about the many the other activities Brandywine Princeton offers! Being Mom’s eldest son and her “responsible party”, I want her to be active, happy, and with other people in her Senior years. Participating in a robust activities program is key to achieving that goal. Another important area is food! Probably the worse job on the planet is cooking at an Assisted Living facility. You can’t cook with too much salt because of restricted diets; sugar is limited because of diabetes; the meat will always be tough because of dentures; and overall, food will either be too spicy, or have no flavor because of a dulled taste pallet. Plus, the Chef will never be able to make a dish like the resident “use to make it themselves.” It’s called Euphoric Recall. But overall, Mom is very pleased with the food at Brandywine at Princeton. And I’m pleased too - I wish I ate half as good. I like the variety of food that is offered. Plus, they can have seconds if desired. Overall, the facility is very clean and well maintained. It has lots of beautiful greenery in the public spaces with real plants and flowers. The staff and management are helpful and friendly. Overall, the facility has a nice home-like feel to it. My family and I couldn’t be happier that things worked out so well for Mom at Brandywine Living at Princeton.
I had some trepidation about moving my father into an assisted living facility. His wife had recently passed away, his memory began to decline and he was visually impaired. I toured several different facilities in the area but chose Brandywine Living at Princeton in the end. Leslie Yngojo-Bowes, the Director of Community Relations and Dessarae Hebert, Welcome Coordinator were so helpful from organizing the move, transition period and continue to be the friendly faces that welcome family member visits. But what truly sets Brandywine apart is the special personal attention both my father and his family receive from Stephanie Gaber, the Social Coordinator. She and her staff are people who are ultimately responsible for my fathers happiness. They ensure all communmity members are engaged in activities daily and socialize. From art classes, excercise, music and outings to wineries, fishing, farms, my father has a far more active lifestyle than before his move to Brandwine. I also want to mention the love and care my father receives from all the nurses and staff who welcome him back everytime he leaves for an outing. They literally greet him at the door, give him his medication and makes sure he finds a friend. The choice to move a loved one into an assisted living facility is dificult, the rewards for the residents are immeasurable.
I cant say enough about Brandywine Living at Princeton! My dad has been there approximately 8 months now and it is the best decision we have made. The staff is amazing! The concierge reception is impeccable. The wellness staff is very attentive and caring, always making sure my dad is safe, attended to and cared for! Everyone on the staff from the concierge to dining and everything in between is amazing! I'd like to give a special shout-out to the activities director, Stephanie, and her staff! They always make sure that my dad is kept engaged, busy and included and treat my dad as if he were their own!
My mom has been at Brandywine Princeton for about a month and she has thrived living there. The rooms and accommodations are among the best I've seen (and we looked at a lot of places before choosing Brandywine), the staff is incredible (friendly, kind, helpful), and the programming they offer is beyond anything I imagined. If you are a child searching for a place for your parent, this is where you will find the most peace of mind. Everyone is well-trained and helpful. My mom has been more socially active in the last month than she was in the last three years living alone. I think that socialization, combined with the wide-range of learning and social programs offered, has given her back her joy. Before, she was alone for most of the day, not eating properly, and having trouble managing her medication. Now, she has friends who check on her every day, she is eating three meals a day, and she still also has the autonomy to choose what she wants to do. This move has made our relationship better--I can now visit my mom and enjoy being with her without worrying about whether or not she's taken care of. I know that she is safe, looked after, and happy. Kudos to Kelly, Leslie, Stephanie, Mae, the nursing staff, the front desk staff, the dining hall staff and the aides who come to work ready and willing to help and bring daily happiness to the people who most need it.
