Our experience with this facility for respite care was devastating. We sought help for our grandmother, who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and required constant supervision. Despite our insistence on having her caregivers present, the staff dismissed our concerns, claiming that outside help would interfere with their care. I forgot the lady's name but she said the caregivers wanted to keep their jobs so they would interfere someway . We were going out of town on vacation so we just wanted her caregivers that we knew and trusted to keep in touch with us so we would know she was okay! Tragically, on the second morning, they found our frail grandmother, who weighed only 100 pounds, on the floor. We don't know how long she was on the floor my guess probably hours. We had explicitly communicated her need for 24/7 monitoring to prevent such incidents. Instead of heeding our warnings, they insisted that caregivers were unnecessary, which I believe ultimately contributed to her decline. After her stay, she contracted C. diff, and soon after, we lost her. I regret that day we took her the vista cove. I cannot recommend this place for anyone needing round-the-clock care or support for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Always do your research.
My Uncle is going on a year residing at Vista Cove memory care. I truly wish I had discovered Vista Cove before the previous memory care he was at.
I was thrown into a terrible situation of needing to move my Uncle within a few days from a place that was not accountable for anything..
When a couple staffers at the previous place heard of my desperation and saw the injustice happening they told me to call Vista Cove.
I took a break at work and was greeted over the phone by Gerry Neighbors. When she heard my story she instantly said to come for a visit and that they would make a home for my Uncle.
My tour was met with kindness and a ton of information. Gerry even came to my place of employment to complete the paperwork.
Now, a year in, here are my silent observations. I could not have asked for a better place. My Uncle is patiently cared for. He is showered even though he is known to throw a fit, dentures are looked after, clothes are as clean as they can be with spills and such. He enjoys his meals, takes his meds which are so needed and is always looked after. His room is clean and I did not have to provide my own furniture like the last place.
I sit and watch the interactions with staff to residents. The staff is very caring and attentive. Always interacting, checking residents for accidents, redirecting when needed. There is always a nurse on duty and many caregivers doing exactly that.
I have attended the open houses Vista Cove gives for the families. We all agree we are so pleased to have our families there.
I have watched my Uncle’s dementia progress and am so sad for this but, I have also watched Vista Cove progress with the care of his condition. As he checks out socially they provide comfort care and at the same time keep his dignity.
There are many more wonderful things I could say so please if you have read through this long review, call Gerry at Vista Cove.

I work for a healthcare agency and I absolutely love working with Vista Cove!
They provide a high level of care and attention to all of their residents, and their staff is amazing.
When we need a patient placed, I always recommend Vista Cove. Gerry is caring and attentive and you can feel the love as soon as you walk in the door.
Would definitely recommend this facility for your loved one!

The caretakers and nurses are amazing earth angels. My father was well groomed, well fed and entertained as much as he wanted to be. Comfortable at all times. Excellent communication from the staff to our family.

DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! Vista Cove Rancho Mirage is a complete fraud of a business including the staff, Dr's, Directors and the worst is the owner Floyd whom doesn't show you one ounce of care in the world. But yet he is such a church going man! It's all a front.
At first it's great in the beginning , they welcome you & give you a tour & fill your head with EVERYTHING you want to hear. They show you all the programs & amenities that will help your loved one as well as just what they offer.......once your loved one is a resident there, the daily activities begin to slow down, there is nothing new for them to do & they all sit in the great room miserable. There are no real programs that vista sticks with for each individual resident like they say they will. , they do very minimal activities with the residents and it's the same old thing every day, (All they do is puzzles, sing and hit a balloon from person to person, watch a movie once in a while, tv & that's it!) nothing new or stimulating for the brain, they don't excersice, stretch and most of the time they can't even go outside to walk & get some natural sunlight. My Father was a resident here for 2 1/2 years, he was in really great shape/condition physically. Mentally he had some small challenges which were the normal Alzheimer's / Dementia problems. He was active & didn't lay around but ended up with a few stage 3 MRSA bed sores! It wasn't until my Mom asked for them to call a wound specialist to come in & as soon as the specialist got there & took one look they immediately rushed my Dad to the Hospital and when he arrived they were in shock of his condition & he had a fever, his vitals & blood pressure was not good at all & he was rushed for a emergency clean up surgery of the wound. We were NEVER directly informed of this "STAGE 3 MRSA"condition from Vista Cove that could have all been prevented!!!! But he was not properly cared for, showered, his wound wasn't cleaned properly, his catheter was put in & left for months without cleaning, his teeth weren't brushed daily, he was malnourished so badly, there are records of vista cove not giving him his antibiotics daily & the list goes on......the records that they keep are not accurate, my father went days without medicine all for the CNA's or nurses to simply put in his logs "patient refused" it didn't stop at medicine, it was food, smoothies, and hygiene in general. You would think by now my Mother would have heard from the Director or even the owner after she repeatedly asked for an urgent meeting/appointment with the owner & director. My father passed on November 11, 2023 & MY MOTHER HAS STILL TO THIS DAY NEVER EVER HEARD FROM ANYONE BUT THE CAREGIVERS & a few RN's!!!! This is not ok & the neglect & mal nutrition that my Father received & other residents still continue to receive daily needs to stop! If the caregivers don't care about taking responsibility and giving good care to these people then get another job!!!!! I've personally seen it all with my own eyes When I would go visit my Dad very frequently & I would stay late to visit with him since I lived a far distance. On top of everything, they are under staffed. Please do your research on this facility, there are a ton of public records you can read on the state of California website of horrible reports made on this facility on several other residents as well.
