Maravilla
Maravilla is a licensed residential care elderly located in Santa Barbara, California. Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) provide non-medical care and supervision in a homelike setting for people 60 years and older who are unable to live independently.
Maravilla has a licensed capacity of 131 residents. Services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. RCFEs also provide meals, housekeeping, laundry, social activities, and 24-hour supervision. Many offer specialized care for residents with memory impairment.
Who We Serve: RCFEs serve older adults who need assistance with daily activities but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care. Residents may include those with early to mid-stage dementia, mobility limitations, or chronic health conditions.
Licensing: RCFEs in California are typically licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
Payment Options: In California, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Contact California Department of Health Care Services or visit https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/AssistedLivingWaiver.aspx to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.
Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. You can verify this facility's license and view inspection reports at California's facility search. For more information about assisted living regulations in California, visit California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

Friend just moved into assisted living and it seemed so nice, I set up a tour for myself of independent and “casitas” a few days later. Very attractive premises, good activities available, excellent food. Park like setting within easy ride of grocery, drugstore, restaurants and a movie theater. Various levels of care available, from fully independent to assisted and memory care; no skilled nursing level. Wait lists for some levels.
Maravilla is a very tranquil operation. The property is nicely laid out and has very well maintained grounds. The architectural theme is keeping with Santa Barbara and its Spanish heritage. The facilities are well maintained and the employees we encountered were all warm and inviting. Overall really nice place to be.
I attended an informative Maravilla Lunch and Learn. Our group tour enabled us to tour the entire property, access a one bedroom Assisted Living Unit, visit the multiple dining rooms, and experience the on-going scheduled activities. The chef prepared a phenomenal meal for the group. My mother and I returned later in the month attending a private tour hosted by the Director of Sales, Lori. We were able to get all of our questions answered and enjoyed a thorough tour. Looking forward to next steps with Maravilla!
Curious about Maravilla, my husband and I went to an Open House. We were delightedly surprised by what we experienced! The highly knowledgeable, warm and welcoming residential Director, Lesley, took us on a leisurely and deep tour, enabling us to experience what it’s like to live there. To us, Maravillla appears to be a beautiful, intimate, warm and friendly, well-planned private village. Lovely grounds and ambiance, meandering walkways, charming private living quarters, wonderful food, friendly residents, special care facilities for those who’d like, along with a bank, restaurant, gym, hair salon, game rooms, movie theatre, multiple well-appointed and spacious residential gathering rooms ... it goes on and on. We could see ourselves living there very happily. Leslie left us with a genuine feeling of welcome to visit any time. And we will.
Lori gave me a tour of Maravilla. The grounds are lovely and the apartment and bungalow I looked at looked adequate for my needs. Lunch was delicious with wonderful cookies for dessert. I will definitely keep Maravilla in mind when it is time for me to consider moving to an independent living community.
