High Lakes Care Homes

My sister and I are so thankful that my brother was at High Lakes Adult Care Home the last few months of his life. Holly, Shondra and Ashley were so compassionate and caring - angels in our book. They always kept us informed how our brother was doing, as we do not live in Bend, Oregon. We were able to do video chats and that definitely helped in giving us peace of mind about his care. We can highly recommend this adult care home. Holly is so wonderful!

When your parents are at the point where you are no longer able to take care of them it is one of the worst feelings that you can undergo. Taking the next step is to put them into assisted living. It was a challenge to get my parents who were both raised on a farm and very independent to leave their home and live in a strange place. When we saw how they are being treated in the large corporate facilities it was time to take a look at care that would look like what High Lakes Care Homes offers. High Lakes Care Homes owned by Holly Fjermestad was an answer to our families prayers. Holly came from the corporate care home realm and understood how mothers and fathers were being treated in these large facilities. Her goal was to create a more intimate setting for our mothers and fathers to be cared for all day and all night in a home setting with one on one care, not a big building with the hopes that some random caretaker would stop by once or twice a day to check on our parents. Holly's leadership, moral code, passion, and hospitality reflects in her team and who she allows and entrusts to represent her vision of caring for our elderly. I am eternally indebted and so grateful that we found her and her team. They were my mothers and fathers angels here on earth before they passed on to live with the angels in Heaven. Thank you so much Holly and everyone on your team for your unwavering and going above and beyond care for Mom and Dad, I am forever grateful.

In 2021 we had to make the hard decision to find a place for my mom who is dealing with dementia. We toured a few larger facilities in Bend but felt they weren’t what we were looking for. My mom’s occupational therapist at the time mentioned her sister was with High Lakes Care Home so we set a date to take a tour. It was so different than previous places. It being a smaller facility there is a more personal and homey feel. I like that each person has their own room yet they have a shared living room, a beautiful backyard (with a porch that is used a lot during nice weather) and its in a quaint neighborhood. I feel that there is a great amount of interaction and activities throughout the day. They also provide varied and delicious homemade meals as well as snacks/beverages as needed throughout the day. The house is also kept in good order. The staff does a great job with each of the residents room as well as the common areas. We have had a wonderful experience interacting with Holly the owner. She is so kind, responsive and has been extremely helpful in navigating the changes happening with my mom. She is very thorough in hiring staff that is caring and capable. My interaction with all the staff has been great. Everyone I’ve met has been so nurturing and patient with my mom. I stop by often and at different days/times and have always felt comfortable and at ease having my mom there. Its never easy having to find a home for a loved one but High Lakes has made the transition easier for us. I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for a caring, safe, engaged and clean home for your loved one. (My mom is currently at the Sisters location.)

Holly and her crew have been wonderful. We can rest assured knowing our dear relative is getting the best of care in a caring home environment.
