My Great Grandfather Howard moved into AvantGarde, and I couldn't be happier with my mother’s choice. From the moment I first visited, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure residents feel valued and heard. The apartment itself is modern, spacious, and impeccably maintained, with high-end finishes and thoughtful details that make it feel like home. The amenities are top-notch—whether it's the state-of-the-art fitness center, the beautifully landscaped grounds, there's something for everyone. Plus, the location is perfect, offering easy access to local shops, restaurants, and public transport. Overall, AvantGarde exceeds expectations in every way, making it a truly outstanding place to live. Ms. Joyce Martinez & Ms. Carol Trejo was an excellent help with answering a few of my questions and concerns and I am extremely impressed with the speed of service.

I have to take a moment to express how amazing the people at AvantGarde Senior Living | Tarzana have been for my family, especially my mom. She moved there about three years ago in dire straits. Doctors thought Mom was on her way to leave us, but through the care and love from all the staff, she has thrived. I’ve been to several different assisted living facilities, and AvantGarde ranks far ahead of all others. The entire team is fantastic, but I especially want to thank the administrative staff: Joyce, Alberta, and Carol. Recently, I had to make a few tough decisions for Mom, and the administrative staff took the time to call a specific meeting. They gathered the team together and brought in team leaders to meet with me. I can’t tell you how helpful that was. They took a lot of stress off my shoulders as I dealt with this for the first time. Without their assistance, I would not have been able to sleep. I made the decisions I needed to, and now Mom is in steady recovery, and I feel content. To the entire team at AvantGarde Senior Living | Tarzana, my family and I are grateful for you.

So happy to have finally moved my Mom out of this facility. I have never experienced such dishonesty as I did with the admin staff. They may have good reviews but if you look closely most of them are fake. If writing your own reviews isn’t misleading and dishonest then I don’t know what is. I wish I had spent the time to really look into them before loving my Mom here. 5 star review (2nd one in photo attached) is from their marketing director. They reply “We must have done something right to get such a good rating from you. We really appreciate you taking the time!” Oh you mean signing her paycheck? Another 5 star review (bottom one in photo attached) is from the owners administrative assistant. If you really read the reviews they aren’t from family members, they are from people that work there that were asked to leave reviews. Multiple times they missed medications, staff didn’t alert me when changes were made to her medications, they were made aware of medical emergencies and then just went home for the day without notifying anyone (one of these instances ended up with her in the hospital). In the end I needed a doctor’s order written and their executive director told the doctor if he wrote it they wouldn’t allow him back in the facility to see patients. Once I realized just how bad this place was I couldn’t get her out of there soon enough. You should do everything in your power to avoid placing your loved one here.

I spent eight (8) months looking for the right Assisted Living facility in the San Fernando Valley, and by every measure, AvantGarde stood out from the rest - it wasn't even close. The Administrator, Carol is so incredibly responsive to the needs of the residents and their families, and the facility is spotless, modern, and beautifully maintained. The front desk, nurses, medical staff, and caregivers are incredibly patient and attentive to every need... Maria, Evelyn, Kelsey, and Alberta are just a few that made a real difference while my Aunt lived at AvantGarde. There are so many amazing activities they arrange for the residents from live music in the lobby, games, exercise, group walks, to day trips down to San Pedro, shopping, museums, local parks, etc., and Marianne's energy in promoting and engaging residents in the activities is positively infectious! The dining room is cozy and inviting, the food is terrific with incredible variety too! I can't forget about the residents... such a nice mix of friendly people, it was always such a pleasant experience visiting my Aunt because of the super nice atmosphere in the facility. I can't say enough about AvantGarde, and the care we received from Carol and her whole staff, we felt so incredibly fortunate to find such a lovely, safe, and comfortable facility for my Aunt.

I found this gem after a quite long search as it was not easy to find a community for my picky grandmother. If your standards are high, this facility is worth considering at the least. The nurses are very patient with my grandmother and the care is consistent. The move in process was seamless thanks to Joyce and Carol whom I’m so thankful for and kudos to the whole staff.
