Sunrise at River Road

My mother has been at Sunrise at River Road for about 10 months and we are extremely pleased. She never thought she would move from her home she lived in for over 40 years. We looked at a few places, but this one stood out above all. The staff is always welcoming & helpful. The facility is always clean & the food is really good. There are different room sizes to choose- studio, 1 bdrm, & 2 bdrm that all have microwaves, refrigerators, roll in shower. Not only has my mother found a new place to live she has also made many new friends. She loves the back patio where she can watch birds & enjoy the sun. There are many daily activities for the residents & they do fundraisers for charities. There are all different levels of care including memory care. Guest are welcome at any time and residents are able to come and go as they would like. This is a beautiful community that is warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this community for anyone needing a little more help with their daily life.

Our family toured 7 Assisted Living and Care Homes to find the Best living environment for our Mother. We knew she was "Home" when we toured Sunrise at River Road! The facility is welcoming, comfortable, and felt like home. The staff from the top down are amazing, caring, present and after a year, what we experienced on the first meeting and tour is still the same today! There is always some activity going on throughout the day to keep the residents busy and engaged and social. The Care staff treat our Mother and our family like we are a part of their family. We could not ask for anything else for our Mother!

My mother-in-law has been at Sunrise at River Rd for over 1 year! We looked at 2 other Senior Living Facilities in Tucson and by far Sunrise was at the top of our list! It has the MOST home-like atmosphere, it is beautifully & professionally decorated for each season of the year & the staff is very friendly, helpful & CARING, which meant the most to us! Several of the residents readily shared with us how much they enjoyed living at Sunrise! We saw LOTS of smiles on the resident’s faces, which we did NOT see at other 2 places we toured! We are very happy we chose Sunrise for so many reasons: 1) Sunrise’s staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to support their residents & their families! They treat their residents and the resident’s families with dignity and respect and are easily approachable for questions or concerns. 2) We found out that Sunrise follows the Norwegian model for senior living which is quite different from the American model. That difference was very apparent when we toured Sunrise & when we read Sunrise’s website, the Norwegian model was explained! That became another major reason we chose Sunrise @ River Rd. 3) There are various activities that are listed on a daily calendar for residents from walking groups, in-house concerts, in- house movies, games like Scramble that keep senior’s minds active and of course bingo games plus a lot more! 3) There are also many activities that go on outside of Sunrise like trips to the movies, trips to places of interest like Desert Museum, shopping trips and going out to eat at restaurants! My mo-in-law loves those trips!! 3) There is a menu choice with meals so the resident is able to pick which meal they would like plus the desserts are to die for! On special occasions, there is a brunch menu that is exceptionally delicious and family members can join their loved one for those meals in main dining room! We are happy & feel very blessed that we found AND chose Sunrise and so is my mo-in-law! It was the right choice for ALL of us!

Highly recommend! My mother has been at Sunrise for over 3 years, progressing from somewhat independent living and enjoying the many activities Sunrise has to offer, to late stage dementia needing assistance with all aspects of her day. The Sunrise team has kept me informed, made sound recommendations, and allowed my mother to transition to higher levels of care without disruption and with dignity. This was my first experience with assisted living and the Sunrise staff have far exceeded expectations. I’ve been impressed with the personal caring and low staff turnover. I’m so pleased that we chose Sunrise for her home.
