There seems to be so many reviews written by employees, which is important, but I think reviews written by people who are looking for assisted living are more valuable. So here it goes: my family spent a good deal of time researching assisted living facilities and decided on the Elison Bella Vita. So far we are quite glad we did. Every single employee smiles, interacts with residents, and takes close care of them. They all clearly appear to love their job. Some of those people with whom we’ve had contact with are Andrea, Executive Director; Angela, Marketing Director; Danny, Maintenance Director and his team; the entire nursing and med tech department; the ladies at the concierge; and Amy and Gizella (?) in the dining room. Speaking of the Dining Room, the food is astounding and varied. Finally, the apartments are spacious, and the common areas are well kept. Again, so happy this was our choice.
I’d love it here. I am very, very happy. My friends told me I sound happy on the telephone. Everyone is very compassionate and loving. I get a lot of pets on my back and hugs. I love hugs I would recommend Elison AL of Bella Vita to anyone who needs assisted living. I consider myself to be independent I don’t need help, but I have just started occupational and physical therapy also available on site and almost love it at this point. Over and out !
When I first moved in, it was great but today the quality in every area seems to go downhill. It is getting more like a memory care place. I am tired to see the staff drama in the dining room on which tables to serve. It is no longer a good fit for me at Bella Vita. We are searching for a better place. To be fair, there is not enough Senior Homes for the Deaf in USA so it is a hard situation …. No fault of yours.
Elison Assisted Living has gone down hill drastically in the last 6 months. Professional staff is now having to stop care giving efforts and shifts to dining and kitchen duties. The place is in disrepair - e.g. the elevators have caused immense burden on residents. My last visit before this week was a few months ago. It's suprising how quickly the morale and energy has eroded. Residents are yelling at the facility director in the middle of the open dining room for not doing his job. It's a complete disgrace. Prices keep going up while service goes down. My Grandmother is often left unattended. Sometimes sitting in the dining room for hours. The staff is hard working and genuinely care for their residents. This all appears corporate driven - increase fees and reduce costs. It's just a matter of time before something catastrophic happens.
My parent has lived at Bella Vita assisted living for the past 3 years and there have been 4 managers during this time. The contracts that were promised hadn’t been honored until this current manager. Before the current manager rent increases happened whenever Texas owners decided to pressure the manager at the time to collect more money from these senior residents and there were a variety of excuses. Now they are Texas is forcing staff at BellaVita assisted to be spread thin asking them to wear many hats. They cannot focus on resident care. I was visiting and had to push a woman in a wheelchair to lunch because her resident assistant was working as a server. This resident was exhausted trying to pull herself with her feet to lunch. She said she had pressed her call button but no one came to help her for 30 minutes so she began making her way. I can’t image that if a resident had a greater need ( fall, heart attack etc) what the result would be. This is not the resident care they pay for. I am also reluctant to share these things with the owners because I don’t want to provide another excuse for price increases. Another incident I was present for was my parent. The call button was hit because there was a need for prn medication. The med tech was found by me finally after 15 minutes went by in the dining area. I had to go find her and again the response time is not the fault of the employees as they are being spread thin. Quality care is completely being compromised. There are other facilities in the area that do NOT expect this of their employees and response time is nearly immediate. I am familiar with other facilities because I shopped around before mom chose BellaVita. I’m certain that all of management knows that the residents build relationships that they don’t want to leave, by having to moving to another facility. Texas ( owner) needs to spend the money to make this right without stealing more money from residents. It’s just a matter of time before someone dies from poor response time because an employee is being asked to leave their responsibilities for another craft in the building. Hire enough people to work in the dining area so they are not getting cold food. Allow the chef proper food budget to serve this population properly( low salt, Mediterranean diet etc). Get a better communication system where if the residents hit their call button perhaps they can do voice communication to find out if this is an urgent need, allowing the resident to know they are important and help will be on the way. The employees work hard. Tanya and Tina are excellent activities directors. Nursing staff are working better together now but being pulled away to do other crafts. Time to hire employees to cover the needs of the facility without stealing more money from the residents. The owners need to step up and share the profits they bank.
