Choosing a memory care facility for my sister was such a hard decision, but Colonial Gardens made it easier from the very first visit. Her husband, daughter, my parents, and I all visited different facilities to help her husband choose a suitable facility. The thoughtful touches, such as resident biographies displayed outside each door, help caregivers and visitors connect with residents on a personal level. The building is always clean, and the layout allows my sister to walk safely or enjoy the enclosed courtyard—complete with seating and even a basketball goal! The activities are wonderful, engaging, and inclusive. Tina, the activity director, goes above and beyond to make sure every resident is involved and smiling. Her professionalism is top-notch, and her kind interactions with residents are heart-warming. I also want to give a special mention to Bessie, whose kindness and warmth mean so much to my sister and to us. Because our family visits daily, we see firsthand the compassion and respect shown by all the staff—housekeepers, cooks, nurses, and caregivers alike. They are consistently kind and welcoming, not only to my sister but also to our family. Placing a loved one in memory care is painful, but seeing my sister content, cared for, and lighting up when she sees her favorite caregivers gives us true peace of mind. Colonial Gardens is a blessing to our family.
Placing my daughter in memory care was a very difficult decision for her husband and our family, especially since she is one of the youngest residents. From day one, Colonial Gardens has given us peace of mind. The staff is amazing—so kind, compassionate, and always welcoming when we visit. It warms my heart to see her happy and even dancing in the parade on the way to lunch. The facility is always clean, and we love being able to sit outside together and enjoy the sunshine. I always leave with positive updates and, most importantly, comfort knowing she is content and well cared for. This has allowed our family to simply enjoy time with her again, without the heavy burden of caretaking. We are so grateful for the staff at Colonial Gardens.
I visit this facility a few times a month as a chaplain. I visit many facilities in my area. I find Colonial Gardens to be very much above the par when it comes to caring for memory care patients. Staff are friendly and interactive with residents (even when no one is looking). The facility has a very special way of interacting with people who have memory care issues and their families. I love to visit with the patients and see their staff love on the residents. Thank you for your ministry to the patients and their families. You are a blessing to those you interact with!
I encourage you to consider Colonial Gardens Memory Care if you are evaluating memory care communities for your loved one. I don’t have enough words to express the appreciation I have for the care and comfort they provide to my dear Dad in the Columbia SC (Lexington County, Richland County) location. My family is grateful for the day we walked in and met the people in CG. From the first conversation about the community, the philosophy, and the care, we knew we had come to the right place. The personal style, the team’s commitment, and the whole CG community of workers, residents, and families brings our family peace and comfort in many moments. They treat Dad as a person with a big life and a personality. They talk to him, listen to him, and understand his personal wants and needs. Our family visits daily and we are always greeted with a smile and encouragement. The care provided is more than we could ever have asked for. The nurses and aids, kitchen staff, cleaning and maintenance, activities team, receptionist, and management – every person is kind and caring to the residents, the family, and to each other. The food is appealing, and the activities are varied to make sure there is something that everyone can enjoy. They have guest performers providing music, monthly birthday celebrations, and bus trip for those who want to participate. This is not just a place for Dad. We feel part of a community of people who care for my Dad and also care about us.
The entire team at Colonial Gardens is fantastic from reception, admissions, nursing, recreation, kitchen and housekeeping, everyone shows the residents they truly care. The building and grounds are meticulously tended and our family member raved about the food. I recommend Colonial Gardens without reservation for stellar memory care.
