Amedisys Home Health Care
Amedisys Home Health Care
Amedisys Home Health Care is a Medicare-certified home health agency serving Augusta, Georgia and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified home health agency provides skilled nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, medical social services, and home health aide services to patients in their homes.
Medicare covers home health services for patients who are homebound and require skilled nursing care or therapy services on an intermittent basis. A physician must certify that the patient needs home health care and establish a plan of care.
Home health agencies are certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and must meet federal Conditions of Participation. These requirements ensure that agencies provide quality care, maintain proper documentation, and protect patient rights.
Medicare beneficiaries pay no cost for covered home health services when provided by a Medicare-certified agency. For more information about home health benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare home health agency ratings at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality ratings and agency data are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. This is the most unprofessional group of people that I have ever met. I had thought that they were here to help the patient not help themselves. You can only see them at there convenience not yours. So NO THANKS. I will be reporting you to the hospital.
This is my second time utilizing Amedisys for physical therapy (PT) over the the past four months for two total knee replacements (TKR). With TKR, until you build up your leg strength or the doctor gives you clearance to drive, you are unable to drive. For me, hiring a driver for transport to and from outpatient PT two to three times weekly would create a financial burden. Therefore, home health PT was the perfect solution. Besides a PT, Amedisys sent a nurse to access my medical needs, and an occupational therapist (OT) to access my activities of daily living needs. If you require a rollator, wheelchair, walker, etc., they also ensure your home is set-up to safely maneuver. The entire team sets you up for success. I only needed physical therapy. The physical therapist made sure I did and understood how to do my exercises correctly. She telephoned me the day before to confirm my appointment. If a patient before me canceled or required additional time, she called to update me. I know everyone has different experiences, but before you begin your home health, make sure you understand what the teams legal obligations are. By law, they must document and give details of their visit with you, in real time, while with you. To ensure your medical privavcy, and per HIPAA regulations, medical records are kept electronically (tablet, computer). Knowing this will help you understand that your home health person is not "playing on their tablet" while addressing your needs. I highly recommend Amedisys for your home healthcare needs.
At the end of April my 94 year old mother fell. She spent 4 days in the hospital. After, they sent her to "rehab". Now THAT was a joke. She spent 2 weeks in bed in a diaper. "Therapy" consisted of getting her out of bed occasionally and sitting in a wheelchair. I had had enough. I brought her home, and arrangements were made for at home therapy from Amedisys. These ladies were awesome!!! She had PT, OT, and a visiting nurse. She's been in therapy now for 5 weeks and will be signed out next week. We couldn't be happier! Mom is back where she was before she fell. She walks with her walker and has regained the strength she lost being in bed for 3 weeks. Excellent company, excellent personnel!
I was told that they didn't care about returning one way or another and for me, it was enough said. Just terrible, they continue to come everyday and sit on your couch and invade your privacy while pretending to help. They send someone new daily with a iPad to ask the same series of questions as the previous nurse already did. One of the nurses butt crack was showing while she was trying to change my bandage and she only aggravated the already sensitive area. I would definitely not recommend their services, but maybe your experience will be better. Just watch out and read the previous reviews. It seems like a company out for money and not the health of the patient.
