Cardinal Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Baton Rouge, Louisiana and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

My family member has been with Cardinal Hospice almost 3 years. I am very pleased. The staff is compassionate, caring, supportive and available to talk with us when there is a need. I know it is hard to provide perfect service all the time, but they come very, very close to doing just that. They are like family. I know I made the best choice for my family by choosing Cardinal Hospice!
This company should be shut down because they truly DO NOT care for your loved ones. They were supposedly caring for my mom but it was anything but negligent on their part! My mom had severe bed sores and suffered in so much pain. Nobody ever returns phone calls and they have extremely poor customerservice! Wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy! She hadn't had a bowel movement in 5 days and they did nothing. How painful it was for her! They should be prosecuted immediately!
Absolutely horrible experience. My Dr. referred them and they did not not attend to patient at all. Hospital bed was requested, but none came. Told them he was holding his head and complaining about pain and was promised some pain medicine, but nothing came. I requested the last rites from a Priest but he never came. Day before death I called and told his nurse that he wasn’t eating and asked if he was dying and was told no, that he was fine. Went to Dr Moutons office early in the morning to tell him that his patient wasn’t doing well and he turned and walked away. That 30 sec visit resulted in 5 pages of fraudulent conditions of myself and People Health a huge invoice to be paid by Medicare. Made a consultation visit a couple of weeks later, for 4 minutes but again, 5 more pages of fraud and and said he no longer wanted me as a patient. Lies, fraud and theft from Cardinal Hospital and Dr. Mouton. Theft of Medicare funds. These are all felonies and it will not be dropped until Dr Mouton is arrested and loses his license. Fraud, waste and abuse of Medicare needs to stop!
