Amedisys Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Hialeah, Florida and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

I cannot stress enough this saying that our HHA shared with us... Everyone needs a little help some times. I needed the help so I could step away and just be a daughter every once in a while. And my Dad needed a break for me being the caregiver. We laughed more because of the extra hands and caregivers Amedisys provided. Hospice doesn't mean the end. It means extra help. Thank you to the entire team.
Amedisys Hospice provides “pure heart centered” care! I have experienced the patient and caring nature with which the hospice consultant talks to the niece of a patient who’s comfort matters more now than the aggressive treatment that no longer was adding value. I can definitely recommend Amedisys, and how easy it was to contact the office and schedule a nurse to evaluate a patient. Excellent “end of life” care- compassionate, heart-centered care.
My Mom passed away on December 13th. My heart is broken in a million pieces. I am her daughter and was her.caretaker. When I chose Amedisys I knew from the beginning that I had made the right choice. The team was very compassionate and caring. From the liaison, social worker, the CNA’s, the nurses, the chaplain, they were nothing but professional and respectful to me and Mom during her last days here at home.
I don't understand how your organization can allow someone to be put on hospice without involving any family members. That's right, your patient had 2 daughters and a son but you didn't allow them to participate. She beg to have it stop but no one listen and family was kept away. I wouldn't allow your company to touch another patient until you explain why you allowed this to happen. Your website says that you involve family and offer them grief counseling but no one has contacted her daughter.
