Hudson Valley Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Poughkeepsie, New York and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

Before we entered hospice for my Mom, our hospital experience was exhausting, frustrating, and somewhat disappointing. Hudson Valley Hospice was the complete opposite. Every member of the staff was exceptional: caring, knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, and an excellent human being. The facility is peaceful, clean, and beautiful. They exceeded my expectations and made a difficult time much easier.
The care and concern for my father was very professional and kind. Every time I need them to come over, they were immediately there helping dad. To all the drivers delivering the meds/supplies to the nurses and Drs. My family says Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Making the decision to start Hospice care for my mom was very difficult. But the moment she was accepted into their care we knew it was the right decision for her. Once accepted, her services begin quickly were provided with equipment we needed to take care of her at home. We had so much comfort and peace in knowing that the rest of her life’s journey would be at home. The services were very well coordinated. All staff were very compassionate and caring. We are forever grateful for the care provided . Hudson Valley Hospice allowed my mom to have her wish of spending her final days at home with her family and cats.
