Companion Hospice
Companion Hospice
Companion Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving San Antonio, Texas and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.
Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

We contacted Companion Hospice & Palliative Care due to a referral from a friend. They have been wonderful from the beginning. The nurses, CNA’s and social workers have been great to work with. Karina has been my father-in-law’s nurse from the start and has helped make this transition as smooth as it could possibly be. She takes the time to listen to concerns and provides answers to any questions we have! We were apprehensive about starting this service and she has helped smooth out any rough patches along with Jackie & Simon who are the social workers! They make sure quality of life is the focus! We would be lost without them!
I'm very happy with Companion Hospice. They are assisting with the care of my father. The entire team has been wonderful from the start. Miguel Trevino with helping him get started. Nurses Melissa and Karina are great! Jackie the caseworker was so empathetic and kind when speaking to me about services. Aquarius our CNA has exceeded our expectations with the care she provides. I was very nervous about how my father would respond to having her assist. To my surprise he loves her and listens to her direction and allows her to provide exceptional care. She really has a way of connecting with her patients and making them feel comforted and cared for. I feel such a huge relief with the help he is receiving. Thank you!
There are only two events in life so significant that we cannot afford to leave them to chance if we have the power to prepare: the day we are born, and the day we die. I am a hospice nurse and I know how difficult it is to come to that crossroads where you have to decide on placing a loved one on a hospice service. This company and the staff are truly the epitome of compassionate care. So much so that when my mother in law came to that point in time I immediately advised my family to use companions services. Mary and Melissa both RNs came to her home and put our family at ease knowing that our loved one would be treated as if she were their own family and she was. You will not find a better administrator than you have in Mary Anislie who lives and breathes to care for each of these patients to her best ability. The nurse case managers are all extremely competent, caring and loving especially melissa. I’m so grateful to them all.
Aquarius . One of the best care giver, she take so much time and care for my husband. She cares about how he feels and visits with him, while taking such care. She is so reasonable for his needs. My husband enjoys his time with her. In the beginning he wanted no part of someone coming in and bathing him. I left the room and within 5 minutes I could hear laughing. She is an a wonderful person. Were lucky to have her. 😊 Thanks
I cannot say enough about this company, my husband of 44 years, has Ataxia, and other illnesses that have caused us to see palliative and hospice care. The people that work there are like family to us, I have to mention each one because they have no idea how much it helps to have the support of these people Mary,Jill, from admin, were wonderful Jackie the social worker was so helpful in planning for the future, Karen our nurse is like a sister and Maria the CNA is amazing!!! Leonard the Chaplain was so kind and helpful as well and I am sure I forgot some but they are all amazing humans... I hope they know how much my family and myself appreciate everything...I give them the highest review possible With much love Charles Howard
