About

Aseracare Hospice

Aseracare Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Sioux Falls, South Dakota and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.

Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.

Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.

Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

We used AreraCare Hospice Care for my mother recently. I was very impressed with the wonderful care. My mother loved all the nurses and was happy when they arrived. At the end we wanted comfort and peace for mom. They made sure she was comfortable and her passing was very peaceful. I would suggest them to anyone dealing with a loved one who needs extra care!

Absolutely one of the most unprofessional experiences of my life during a time when it was needed most. I would not recommend AseraCare for any services needed during end of life transitions. From conflicting communication between staff, lack of supplies for a scheduled start of home services, not getting calls back for hours, or even never after calling the 24 hour nurse line, to not being provided with an adequate amount of end of life comfort medications for the person transitioning to death. Not having medications covered when all the family is supposed to do is pick them up, pharmacy unable to get any answer to multiple calls for additional information to process medications, not answering for funeral home, not responding back to family calls for supplies or medications, not being able to speak to the family respectfully without diminishing the families intelligence level, not even all being on the same page with anything. An all-around awful experience.

So disheartened by the services received from this company. Being a Healthcare professional myself, I am well aware of the importance of seamless, compassionate, quality care for the patient and the family during end of life care. There was a significant delay in receiving any of the home care supplies we needed, they were delivered to my home 3 days after Mom died. When Mom was in transition period at the end, we couldn't get the physician to sign the orders for the comfort medications. I sincerely hope no other family has this same experience.

As a Long Term Care Provider, we had always chosen Aseracare. The care and support they give to your loved one is unmatched! They understand what you are going through as a family member and do everything they can to ensure more isn't added to your plate - they want you to be able to spend time with your loved one. I recommend anyone who asks to go with AseraCare for their Hospice needs, including my own grandfather. In general, it feels hard to recommend anyone for Hospice as it's going to affect their last days, but it's easy to recommend AseraCare as I know they always follow through!

When the home my mom was in suggested that she would benefit from Hospice, I called AseraCare. Didn't have a clue as to who they were or what I was doing. They took care of everything. They took such good care of my mom. No one could have done better. The day my mom passed away, Barry, the Pastor, and Holly, the nurse, were there with me. We were holding hands and Barry was praying as mama left this earth and passed into Heaven. It was like God had put them there with me at that exact time. I will never forget their kindness.
