SKILLS, Inc in St. Albans, ME is looking to hire a full-time or part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to provide services to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) / CAREGIVER As an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you help individuals with disabilities to live and work as independently as possible. You provide this support and guidance during day shifts, swing shifts, or night shifts in their homes or at the activities that they attend. Your support is needed in many areas of daily living including medication administration, hygiene, grooming, shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and housekeeping. You also assist them with gaining employment, learning new skills, achieving goals, and finding recreational activities that they enjoy. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you provide life skills training in areas such as employment, money management, and relationship-building. You find it very rewarding to help individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities lead self-fulfilling lives! QUALIFICATIONS 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Basic computer skills Ability to pass a background check upon hire A heart for serving people with disabilities Are you discreet with confidential information? FULL- OR PART-TIME WORK SCHEDULE This entry-level position has various day shift, evening shift, night shift, holiday, and weekend schedules available based on the needs of the persons served and your availability.
