Yes facility is a little old and needs some TLC. But the staff is kind, friendly and competent. I think this facility must’ve been built sometime ago because it is clearly not up to the latest protocols for people with disabilities for permanent or short term stay. Turning around a wheelchair can be a challenge as there really isn’t enough clearance in some places. The food: well let’s face it: it’s institutional food and as such it is not great. Fortunately the facility allows its inmates to order out. Has a nice backyard patio with plenty of sun. Well I cannot say that I have enjoyed my time here and who does in a rehabilitation facility? Ssince I had to be at one I have been pleased with this one.
"Skilled" nursing is staff enjoying social time in the station instead of checking on residents then informing me at 12:30 a.m. that I had NO RIGHT TO QUIET TIME TO SLEEP because EVERY resident has the ABSOLUTE RIGHT T to WATCH AND LISTEN TO TV (without earphones) 24/7/375.
I had a dear friend who was a resident of Kyakameena Skilled Nursing facility for 3 years. The staff was very professional, caring, responsive, respectful and attentive. The facility was always clean and I was always greet warmly. My friend always said how much she enjoyed her time at Kyakameena. I always knew that she was receiving the best care!
My brother Alan needed 24 hour care. Kyakameena was recommended by a doctor at Highland hospital. He wasn’t sure there would be space available. Luckily when my brother moved from the hospital an opening was available. The facility is older but the staff was wonderful! As my brother transitioned into hospice, I feel grateful for care and the positive attitude of the staff.
This skilled nursing home took excellent care of my brother in law for both his rehab and on going custodial care. The staff was wonderfully attentive, competent and caring. While it's an older facility, it is one of the best places for care of a loved one on a limited income.
