My experience at this nursing home has been extremely negative. The level of care is far below what any resident should expect. Staff members often appear uninterested, unresponsive, and at times completely neglectful of basic needs. Requests for assistance are ignored or delayed for long periods, and there is little sense of urgency or compassion. The environment feels unsafe, and it’s clear that proper oversight and management are missing. It is heartbreaking to feel that being here is more like a punishment than a place for recovery or support. No one should have to worry about being ignored, uncared for, or left in discomfort. To make matters worse, contacting the facility’s compliance department provided no improvement. Their response was just as poor as the care in the facility itself, offering no real help or solutions. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone. Major improvements in staff training, supervision, and resident care are urgently needed. Until then, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a nursing home that treats its residents with the dignity and respect they deserve.
My mom's insurance wouldn't cover a place closer to home, so she landed here. If your loved ones need rehabilitation, do whatever you can to make sure they don't get sent here. Upon visiting for the first time, I asked her where the bed rails were on her bed; there aren't any. I asked where the adjustment was for the bed, but she didn't know. I found it on the floor under the bed next to the call button. I picked them both up and rigged something to hold them in place on a wheelchair parked by her bed. She said it didn't matter anyway, they don't come when she pushes the button, then they're mad that she's gone to the bathroom. I passed many rooms on the way to my mom's, all of which were full... Please, if you have any say in where your loved ones go, make sure it's not here. In the morning, I'll do what I can to get her moved to a different facility...
Based on my personal experience the positive reviews of Genesis are less than an honest assessment. As you pull up to the facility it looks like an abandoned motel. The Genesis transport vans are rust buckets parked in front of the unkept weed & trash strewn flower beds. Clearly the facility is not paying for adequate groundskeepers or maintenance. They operate with the smallest skeleton crews possible on the weekends, with not enough staff to keep the buildings properly clean. The private equity group that controls & ran the place in to bankruptcy isn't finished "busting" the facility out yet it seems. Apparently every resource has to be stripped away & the property completely devalued so that the business can be picked up out of bankruptcy court for as cheap as possible. The director, like at most of these so-called "healthcare" facilities, is less than three weeks in to the job. As long as that position constantly changes everyone can hide their neglect behind compartmentalization & a culture of passing the buck. "Not my job, talk to the state" should be the official Genisis motto. When you voice your concerns your're told that, "It's not as bad as some other places", as if lowering the bar makes any of it ok. No matter how you do the math at 150 nearly contantly full beds Genesis can afford to staff up; they choose not to. But a couple of the nurses are really nice so there's that, I guess.....
My father was placed here recently, and we were so grateful for him to finally be at a decent place. (The senior care rehab community is extremely twisted and the places we send our seniors is really despicable.) Not this place!! Bridgeville Rehab and Care Center has treated my Dad with dignity and respect. My fathers behavior has been challenging and extreme at times and they have handled it with grace and understanding. We would love to have him stay for the memory care that he so desperately needs, but beds and insurance seem to be getting in the way. Thank you for all that you've done to try and help my Father. I can finally sleep at night knowing he's somewhere that understands his behavior.
Oh where to begin. My mother was admitted here for rehab to gain more mobility. While in their care due to improper care she fell 3x, 2 of the 3x she broke her foot/ankle. She was only treated for the initial break. As the second time the nurse started she wasn't going to write the fall in her chart. My mom and I both asked for someone to check out her ankle. 3 days passed before they did and X-ray and guess what!?! It was broken. Did they schedule her to see Ortho? Yeah... BUT every time the day of the appointment would come Genesis cancelled the appointment. My mom went into this place able to walk a few steps with a walker to being completely bed bound she hasn't walked since March because of this place. Unacceptable! Horrible People. The social worker even said "your mom is very needy" well duh.. if she wasn't why would she be in a rehab facility, she needs HELP! So much more I could go on about but I'll stop here. Please don't send anyone to this God forsaken place.
