I visited with my sister today at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home for the first time since in several months. The Pandemic has been especially hard because of the necessity of social distancing. My sister is 65 years old and mentally handicapped. She uses a walker to stay mobile. During this time the residents were not allowed to have visitors - understandably so. We were kept well informed of the status of our loved one and updates via newsletters and phone. Anne was allowed to call me and close relatives in order to stay connected. We are forever grateful for the many kindnesses that the Jackson Manor has shown to our family. July 19, 2021 I visited my sister at the Jackson Manor numerous times since the last review, but have been unable to get my reviews to go through, so I am attaching this review to this same page. After checking in I visited with my sister Anne was sitting in the chair in the hall. The atmosphere was friendly. I sat near her. We chatted with each other and with others who passed by. I gave her a doll we had gotten her while on vacation. My daughter bought some accessories for the doll. She was pleased. Many people stopped and talked to us, patients and employees alike. It was a good day. Thank you Staff for taking such good care our loved one, just as you do for all your patients. Sincerely ❤, I went to see my sister yesterday. She wasn't in her room. I found her in the dining room having fun playing Bingo. She loves to play Bingo. I didn't want to interrupt so I went home. Today I went back to visit her. She was in good spirits and we had a good visit. I am thankful to the staff at the Jackson Manor for the many kindnesses they have shown to her and for the friendly atmosphere they provide each day. Susan

This facility was disgusting! There were bedbugs in my bed. They did not launder my clothing or clean my room the entire time I was there, causing me to miss dialysis treatments, causing me to be rehospitalized. I wouldn’t bring my dog here.

My mom is here receiving services. Her transfer there from the hospital left much to be desired (hospital fault). The referring hospital told staff at Jackson Manor that my sister and I were “crazy” and “hard to deal with” (apparently advocating for loved ones and expecting professionalism colors opinions…lol) however staff at Jackson Manor allowed opinion to color their own professionalism. My sister and I were met with a lot of attitude and this lack of professional ethic tainted the early care my mother received. After scheduling a conference with the DON and ADON did attitudes get better , though some of the staff that delivered the most attitude never offered up apologies for their behavior. There was one incident of a staff member who was using abusive language (emotional and mental abuse) to my mom while I was in the phone with my mom. I will commend the director staff for their swift action in removing that person as staff. The activities director is awesome and engaging. There are several ‘techs’/CNAs and nurses that my mom says are good to her, However, I would not choose this as a long term care facility for my loved one. I know they are undergoing some changes but anytime health care personnel can allow their own professionalism (toward families and patients) to be compromised by the opinion of others they ( the “professionals”) need to find new jobs or facility heads need to provide more training or corrective action. Like it or not those healthcare personnel are the faces of these senior facilities and they need to be better about engaging with concerned and active family connections.

The staff are always friendly but you really have to be on top of them to get the correct care for your parent. (in example, I come in on a Tuesday and my mother had not been showered since Thursday and she's supposed to get them twice a week. The nurse on staff took about 10 minutes to try and decipher the shower log book which didn't help much since it told me what I already knew). If you have a parent in here, make sure you visit frequently if they cannot speak up for themselves.
