My partner of 43 years was at BSJ for 5 years with dementia. I was very impressed with the care she received and can't say enough good things about all the staff. I'm a retired nurse with very high standards and BSJ met them all, personally and professionally. I have and will continue to recomend BSJ to all. You couldn't do better for your loved ones.
Our mother was admitted to the BSJ rehab section in mid June of this year. On the day of her admission, we were greeted with such warmth, kindness and professionalism that I cried with relief when leaving that day, feeling that mom was in very good hands…and they did not disappoint!! It’s been over a month now, and the professional staff (Adam and Sierra in Physical Therapy, and Nurse Mgrs, Tisha and Emily) have done an outstanding job of developing and implementing a care plan for mom’s recovery, and we are so pleased with her progress. We also appreciate that any ideas or questions we have are passed along to the appropriate providers and addressed in a timely manner. And last, the facility is clean, the rooms are roomy, and mom says the food is great! I can’t imagine a better place for her to be and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. Thank you BSJ staff! Daughters Cathy and Karen
My mother-in-law was served at BSJ in Avalon, BSJ's Memory Care program. The staff who supported her were truly exemplary! Their kindness and concern knew no bounds. I was impressed with their use of Music & Memory as well as the frequent entertainment. Our family appreciated the excellent communication we had with staff. We were so glad they were there when we couldn't be. We really appreciated all they did for Rosemary and for us!
Recently I assisted an elderly friend of mine transition from her apartment into Shelby Terrace. I am writing this letter to compliment you on the wonderful staff at this facility, in particular, Brianna Boehm. Change is difficult for older individuals and at this time of the pandemic, things are even more challenging. I would like to highly commend Brianna for being extremely helpful and accommodating to me, my friend, Carole, and Carole’s various other friends and relatives. Several of us were contacting her with questions. It must have been confusing for Brianna, but she always responded in such a kind, patient, and helpful way, no matter how busy she was. My phone calls were always returned promptly, my questions were answered, and I felt as though Brianna cared about my friend and me as though we were family. When I did leave a message for Brianna, I realized that she is not only at the helm of Shelby Terrace, but she is also in charge of two other facilities. I don’t know how she can have so much responsibility and still be so compassionate and caring. You are lucky to have such a wonderful employee as Brianna Boehm, and I did not want to let this opportunity pass to send my heartfelt thanks to her.
I'm really surprised with the negative reviews. We moved my husband here about 8 months ago and I think the staff is wonderful. They are attentive and very nice to my husband. They only thing I would say they could do better is to help him neaten up his room more often, hang up his clothes, put away things etc. But as far as health care they do a great job. The food could be improved but it is probably standard fare for a nursing home. They have lots of activities and seem concerned that all the residents have things to do.
