Hey I just got a call from my mom about 30 mins ago I overheard what I assume is a female patient with dementia. She was yelling at the top of her lungs for a good 15 minutes and then another patient which I assume was a male started yelling in the hallway about Jesus and God for about 10 mins longer before I finally heard staff come talk to him which I assume is bc my mom had me on speaker saying how bad that is. I just read a Google review that said Essex lets their memory care patients roam the hallways and get into other patients rooms and beds. My mom is there for the cellulitis infection in her legs. How is she supposed to get better and properly rest with that going on? Also, my mom Teresa Ashton does not take Seroquel at home. She is now negative in the bank from overpaying a bill because she's not on that medication or used to it. My mom also said $3 was missing out of her purse. Which granted me she does misplace things sometimes. But when I hear y'all are giving her Seroquel knocking her out unconscious and memory care patients roaming the halls without staff, needless to say I'm concerned
my mom has been in and out of nursing rehabs for almost 4 years. After her latest hospitalization she was sent to Essex ( yesterday ) though I was concerned if she had enough Medicare days left for the year. Well she didn't. And let me tell you how rude Essex Nursing Rehabilitation in Louisville on Lamborge Rd was about me picking her up ASAP. I understand these places are a business but she ( and residents of LTC'S ) ARE PEOPLE. NO ONE cared to help. Gave me a rickety wheelchair to get her down the hall amd were worried I guess that I was gonna fold it up and steal it. These places and this whole system HAS TO BE CHANGED. AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL.
My mom had two stints in the rehab facility, and everyone was wonderful: nurses, aids, therapists, front desk, finance director, etc. They took wonderful care of her, answered all of my questions, and always kept me informed of her care plans. Not to mention, everyone was so friendly and supportive. I highly recommend them for rehab.
My mother was there and it was awful. They told her to just go in her diaper if she had to go. Nobody still in their right mind wants to do that. She waited 45 minutes to an hour to get someone to help her to the bathroom. She would call me crying. The nurses wouldn’t help at all. They would let the memory care people roam the halls naked and wonder into other residents rooms where they would take their stuff and try to get in bed with them. When my mother died the staff went through her stuff and kept a lot of her personal items. They had it boxed up and bagged up and gave me what they thought I should have. I wasn’t allowed to get all of her things. Robert and his sister that are in charge are the absolute worse. He’s more interested in teaching classes than running that place. If you have no option like I did to put your loved one there, be prepared to go several times a week to check on them and stay a while. It was 5 years of pure hell.
Essex is a great facility!! Their social worker Jamie is Astonishing!!!!!! I would give that woman a huge raise if i could. She walked me and my dad through the discharge process after a 2 year stay. I love Jamie and she will do amazing things for this world.
