My dad was admitted on a Friday afternoon post surgery for PT and OT, called a few hours later to check in on him and he was left in breathing distress without intervention. They have no one working in admin or consulting positions on the weekend, absolutely unacceptable practices for medical professionals to not have ANYONE responsible available on a weekend. This facility was fully prepared to let my dad lay in a bed for an entire weekend without assistance or trained professional help. This place does not have an on staff physician either, they stated they use outsource physicians in zoom calls. My dad was only here for about 12 hours before I had to call emergency services, I cannot image the treatment long-term patients receive. Do not let your loved ones step foot in this facility. Gross negligence and ineptitude at its finest.
My sweet mother was there for 2 weeks. In that time she was neglected, made to wait for basic activities of daily living like using the bathroom and being repositioned in bed. Her labs were so askew without anyone making the effort to figure out what needed to be done (like a blood transfusion to handle her critical hemoglobin and hematocrit). Please don't leave your family member there. Truly disappointed with the care she received. And to give her more distinction, she volunteered at the local assisted living facility doing arts and crafts with the residents.
I'd like to thank the staff at Peak for the care my mom received during the few months she spent there. During my daily visits it became very clear very quickly that they perform a VERY difficult job, and they do it with a smile and a positive attitude. My mom required alot of care, and they were great with her. They worked hard to keep her as healthy as possible, and they even worked hard to make her smile and laugh every day...NOT so easy. I always felt comfortable knowing she was in good hands when I wasn't around.
Peak Resources Outer Banks is one of the best, if not the best nursing facilities that I have ever visited. Upon arrival, the aroma was refreshing and clean. As I walked through the halls, everything was nice and clean and smelled so good. I want to compliment the housekeeping staff for doing such a wonderful job. You make it a joy to visit family and friends. Thank you for your service!
My father, 92, needed five weeks of rehab following several years of limited mobility and a two-week stay at ECU Hospital after a fall. We were very, very pleased with the care he received at Peak for short-term rehab. He was released a few weeks ago and, while I can’t recall the names of all the wonderful people who helped care for my dad (that’s a *me* issue!), I can see their faces in my mind – the nurses, physical/occupational therapists, aides, social worker, and people who kept the rooms clean. Nearly all the staff there were very kind, responsive, and caring. They moved steadily toward the goal of having my dad walk again, and in fact achieved that a couple weeks ahead of the original estimate! And an extra "thank you" to Emmi - director of admissions, I believe -who was very professional, informative, and responsive throughout our dad's stay. I highly recommend Peak Resources when your loved one needs rehabilitative care.
