My mom was diagnosed with oral cancer and I was trying to take care of her and work my full time job. The Courtyards of Pasadena was recommended to me by a friend who had her dad there. The medical staff and administrator and her support team were some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever ever dealt with in a situation that was difficult for me and my family. I highly recommend this facility for your loved one, if you find yourself in this helpless situation, as I did. Their care for my mother was such a relief to me and gave me peace of mind.
My sister was admitted to the skilled nursing wing after a hip fracture and repair. She was well cared for and the staff was kind and gentle with her. Very clean environment. The facility met or exceeded my expectations all around.
Where do I start - if I could give the place no stars I would! Mom was in rehab and wanted bit more wound care and PT/OT so came to this place. When we got there no one came to greet no nurse no one til maybe 1hr 45min later. The room was filthy dirty! Dried urine stains on toilet seat, private part hair in the shower and was dirty as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all! Webs in corner of wall, in the closet. The food is horrific and questionable! If they wouldn’t eat it I don’t see why it’s even given to residents especially those that have no one going to check on them. I didn’t feed my mother there I cooked and took her food on a daily. They bring trays out and pick up 15-20 after it’s been dropped off which is ridiculous to those that might be napping they don’t care they take the trays. If you’re going to need assistance with feeding they take over an hour to feed residents. PT is a joke! Beth comes across like she’s all that but ummm no! They take you and bring you back within 15 -20 minutes and say oh OT and PT was done - how is that possible no way! As far as that it’s worthless they leave worse then when they arrive. Only good therapist was a guy that did OT! Nurses don’t pop in to introduce themselves only some. Some CNA’s are lazy! They don’t check on residents when family steps out I had 4 bad experiences when I stepped out and came back my mother wasn’t checked on. Yes I was there on a daily but regardless it’s their job to make sure resident doesn’t need to be changed etc. I complained about meds not being given in the am they walked in after noon given meaning meds. The place smells like poop at times because they do no check on people and leave them popped and wet. When we got there I also mentioned a possible UTI nothing was give no antibiotic until the Friday before my mom left which was Tuesday due to that my mother had to get admitted for bacteria 🦠 An enema was ordered by NP I asked and no one knew anything- asked Brandie the one in charge of nurses etc said she’d check and get back with me and she never did my mom was discharged constipated not even to tell me no, she’s not getting it or anything very unprofessional in her part! Wound care was good by Mercedes the dr not too sure! They removed the wound vac and wound got bigger - not good! Left to run errand one day and when I returned my mother was soaked and had nail marks on her leg. They need to BAND long nails on CNA’s and NURSES AS WELL AS AIRPODS! You call them and they don’t hear you so imagine a resident needing assistance they won’t get it! There’s private ambulances that go there on a daily - several that is. They get private ones so they don’t get reported to the state! If you have your loved one as a resident please check on them they are not getting taken care of like they should! Some of these nurses and CNA’s need other jobs because they don’t know how to treat people! Housekeeping director never stopped by to check room and to see how dirty they are! Lots of improvement needed at this facility! Maybe a new director to change how things are done there! Also, had issues with TV and wasn’t working correctly called maintenance 4 times and he refused to give remote that goes to TV they use universals that don’t even work! I complained again and finally got the correct remote. Again this place is a JOKE along with whoever runs it / I would never leave my loved one there! Horrible service - again some were ok lets say 3-4 the max. Oh I also had camera to keep eye on my mom while I stepped out!
Nurses sit around all day except the aid help. They have learned to pass the buck. Keep assigning the much needed care to someone else. Especially with seniors. Physical therapy is a joke unless you want to color.
