I was a patient for two months in the Manor Care Rehab. I never got any sleep my sleep habits was terrible. Sleeping with one eye open and one closed. Because the Nurses and Aids would constantly come in for my roommate. My roommate would be arguing with her husband constantly. She even called the police on him. I'm laying in the bed watching the police come in and get her husband in a nursing home. They would come in late then have the tv up loud. The phlebotomist might come real early in the morning. Then PT/OT would come and get you very early in the morning. I would find out the day before what time my therapy would be for the next day. I would make sure that I already had my bath. Because if not they are taking you out of bed without brushing your teeth. I was sponge bathing for awhile because I was scared to get in the dirty shower and catch something. Because it stayed cluttered with equipment and dirty towels and rags. Unfortunately my experience wasn't a good one at Manor Care. I can honestly say that the rehab part of Manor Care is a A+. The rehab is clean the OT/PT teams are very patient. They push you in areas where your needed so you don't babysit your pain. Their very good in what they do. I had a doctors appointment one day so I had to get on the Manor Care Bus. The bus was so dirty you couldn't see out of the window. The driver anchored my wheelchair to the floor but didn't put me on a seat belt I was holding onto the filthy chairs in the aisle because he was flying and he made my anxiety come out. I said to myself they should be ashamed to put the elderly on this filthy bus. The bus didnt have no AC. I didn't know that I was suppose to have a seat belt until I rode Access on my next doctors appointment. That driver had a seatbelt for me. On the other hand I feel if you have a relative there or if your thinking of placing a love one there. Visit your people make sure their being taking care of properly. Really do your homework on the Nursing Home your going to be putting your love one in. Find out about the food. I was fortunate to be able to order food if I didn't like what they was having. They lets you get what they call an alternative but their not good neither. If you don't like neither your probably is just going to be hungry. The lunchmeat on the salad is slippery or fake like or imitation. I always say for me my food has to be appetizing to my eyes in order for me to even try it let alone to eat it. I feel that Manor Care needs to be truly remodeled. The carpets needs to be badly cleaned. Manor Care needs to hire more nurses so the patients can get the proper care. I feel that its ashame that this is part of UPMC and it looks and smells like it does. You smell nothing but urine soon as you come in the door. I'm speaking for the patient that has to be there and doesn't have a voice to speak on their own. The elevators is dirty. I only saw the front lobby look half descent. I saw the Aids that cared about the patients vs the ones that is just there for a pay check. I feel if you can't do the elderly or sick people this is not the job for you. I saw a Aid that had long beautiful false fingernails with 22-24inches of hair that looked like she was to afraid to pick up trays afraid of messing up her nails. It's even scarier thinking of her having to change or wash a elderly because their skin is so fragile. Then I witnessed a patient bearly walking out of his room to tell the Aids that was lolly gagging at the nurses station. That he pushed the button for help and he been waiting and no one never came. He said to them I have one request if someone could wake him up ( for an example at 9:00 10:00 11:00pm)because he don't want to be wet in the bed and one of the Aids responded and said "why don't you just wear a diaper? That blew me away. The nurses are over worked because some of them has to take care of the whole floor then their overwhelmed. They take their stress out on patients. But the other nurses stay cordial and nice no matter how stressed out they are.

My mom was a patient at Manorcare on Negley Ave. for almost a year, it was a terrible experience for my mom and myself. The facility is disgusting!!! Everything is dusty\dirty OR broken! And I mean EVERYTHING! The rooms, the bathrooms, the equipment, the wheelchairs, the patient beds, even some the patients! My mom was receiving only 2 showers a week, Sunday and Tuesday! And my mom was threaten by a nurse or aide named KIM! It was nearly impossible to get her on the phone when calling the facility to check on her. The nursing staff was ALWAYS rude on the phone. I was notified via automated service that a patient tested positive for COVID but never notified that the patient was in fact my mom. Lastly, one of the aides were stealing from my mom. I have an app to track my moms spending and there would be transactions on her card at 2, 3 o'clock in the morning at local gas stations. When I made an effort to inform someone of the matter, the representative "claimed" to have collected all the information, but no one ever got back to me. I hope this facility is either put under investigation for all the code violations, lack of cleanliness and the employees who were and continue to steal from the residents. Do not send your loved ones here!!! They need to be SHUT DOWN ASAP!!!

My granddaughter is there, what a nightmare. I have called many times because she is laying in her own feces. The food is awful. There are no supplements or snacks. They are not giving her the right bed for her medical condition. Her medication is not given on time. Nursing staff is frustrated, some rude, threatening. This facility is severely short staffed yet they continue to accept new patients. I am a retired nurse and cannot fathom the horrible conditions she has to endure. Please...help.

This place is horrible they truly don’t care. Every time I visited my aunt she’s covered in feces and urine. Each time I had to help with ADL’s. Her bed is partially made and she has dried feces in her bedding. They do not have efficient everyday supplies such as bed pads and clean linen. As soon as you enter the building the oder is profound. They do not cover the trash and dirty linen brutes to ensure freshness of the building. The staff is inattentive and will send family to look for supplies. The bathrooms have dirt inside the bathtubs that are black the rooms are dusty and are no recent signs of disinfectant. My aunt lives in a room, with a room mate, that intentionally turns the volume on her tv up inappropriately loud so that my aunt can not hear her self speak or her own tv nor get any rest. My aunt complains of hunger !!!! The staff are polite yet they seem overworked and exhausted. The place is a true embarrassment to be in shady side. Next time I will provide photos as proof of the deplorable conditions.
