My wife, Sandy, and I moved to Edgewater two and a half years ago. We have found it to be a delightful community of nice and caring people. The staff seems to be committed to serving the residents like we are family. We appreciate that Wesley Life is a financially strong organization that has a long-term reputation of caring for its residents through the various stages of life.
The people of Edgewater are friendly nice kind people that live here eager to welcome you and be a friend. Very good group exercise classes. They have interesting learning sessions on a variety of subjects. Weekly movies. Bus outings. Good food. Nice environment. Very very nice staff. And very Nice landscaping.
We have lived here for 14 months and moving here is the best decision we have ever made. We have an independent living apartment. I had knee surgery and a few days later fell and required a week's hospitalization, followed by 3 weeks in Edgewater's skilled nursing rehab, followed by several weeks of physical therapy. The staff here is wonderful! They are quick to respond to requests for maintenance. The food may not be 5-star gourmet but it is very good, with vegan options available. Both restaurants have a wide selection at reasonable prices, and if it is not prepared according to your satisfaction, it may be returned. There are numerous activities and classes and movies and entertainment at no charge, including first run movies in the theater. There is a medical doctor from Iowa Clinic available from 8 to noon every Tuesday and we use him as our family doctor. We have made many friends here. There are various church services, including Catholic with communion. We have visited and toured memory care and assisted living, and I cannot say enough about the care given by staff. Hospice is available at any level of care. Vaccinations are given on site. There is a parking garage in the basement that is heated in addition to ample storage room close to your apartment. This is a long review, and I could still go on and on. If you are interested, just call for a tour and you will find what I say is true. Sheri Jose
My parents and I had a wonderful tour. Renee answered all of our questions, and did an amazing job making sure we saw every area of Edgewater that my parents wanted to see! All of the community members we met on our tour were friendly and welcoming!
I toured this facility with Renee since it's one I'm considering. She was friendly and helpful and even provided me with their financial statements. The place is beautiful and I could definitely picture myself living there. One drawback is that the buy-in is significantly more than the other facility I'm considering. Monthly cost is less and it's probably a wash (they do draw down the investment income on the buy-ins, which makes up for the lower monthly cost). Hard to choose!
