I give this place zero stars. My mother is here recovering from a knee surgery & the staff is absolutely terrible. They do not care about their patients. My mom has had a UTI for almost a week, urinating blood, and they haven’t done anything about it. They keep saying waiting on the orders for her antibiotics. They are not doing their job so why are they even working there. We will be getting my mom the help she needs because this place clearly doesn’t care or does their job. They are also very unprofessional and didn’t believe my mom when she first told them about her pain. This place needs to be shut down ASAP.
This is one of the worst nursing homes in the area. My grandma was placed there a few months ago before she passed away. It is dirty, nurses do not care about the patients, every morning I would visit her and they would be hours late for breakfast.(one time they even claimed they didn’t even know there was someone in that room she was in. It was the 4th day she was there) Water was never full. She was never rotated in bed, bag was always full. It truly is one of the most disgusting places I’ve seen. I’m also originally from winsted and this place used to be really nice. If you have options do not send your elderly here or most likely things will get worse for them!
I've been here 9 days in the Temporary care unit. The staff is awesome, the local therapists are doing a great job so far. This facility is beautiful. The only reason that could not give a 5 star rating is that I was not getting vital medications that I needed to take daily and 3 times per day. This made me feel worse than when I was discharged after being admitted to the hospital. I arrived on a Friday and it took until the following Wednesday for this to be resolved. Overall, I'm glad that I decided to come to this location. Like I said, the folks I deal with on a daily basis are good people with with wonderful hearts. Everyone I have come into contact with is kind, dedicated, hard working and enters your room with a knock first and a smile that continues up into their eyes. They are doing the best kind of work in helping people that in many cases have nobody else that has the resources to help or nobody left at all. I get the feeling from what I've seen and heard so far that the staff here do their best to fill as much of that feeling of emptiness that a lot of people feel as they approach the transition into what comes next after we go home with compassion and respect. Just be sure your loved ones medications are addressed then follow up with their primary care providers and specialists as far in advance as possible so they know to call them in to this facilitie's pharmacy. They are not permitted to use medications you bring from home for safety reasons. I did not know that I was coming here until two days before I arrived and the hospital said everything would be set up and ready for my arrival. I am only including this in my review because there are many patients that cannot speak for themselves or would be aware if they are getting all of their medications. This was most likely due to a lack of redundancy in the on boarding process. I hope that action is taken by the administrative staff to address this for future patients. Luckily, I was just ill instead of having a stroke or seizure. This is water under the bridge in my situation. The people that work this unit hold true to Monarch's mission statement and in many cases go above and beyond what I've seen in other care facilities that I've visited Family and friends in. Very clean, Home like accommodations. Very respectful of those with alzheimers or dementia. They don't just pass a simple request down the road, even if it's not a staff persons duty they will gladly take care of something that you request within reason to be sure. I would recommend The Gardens Short and Long term care Facility.
I currently have a family member there who is a post-op patient. It is truly unacceptable for patients to be subjected to such unsanitary living conditions like fecal from a previous patient on this patient's call light, lack of staff attention where the patient's call light was not answered multiple times throughout the day, lack of helping the patient get up out of bed per MD orders, and a degrading attitude from the social worker and staff during multiple shifts. It is crucial that facilities like this are held accountable for their shortcomings and that steps are taken to ensure that patients receive the quality care and treatment they deserve. I highly recommend that anyone's loved one who is receiving this type of care to report this nursing home to the state so that they can investigate and take appropriate action if your loved ones are treated this way. No one should have to endure such substandard care, especially when they are getting paid to provide a service.
i was a resent guest here. 1st, the nursing staff is AWESOME. there was an overnight staff member who could use a hug and attitude adjustment, and one staff member who would benefit from the use of deodorant. otherwise the nursing staff is awesome A+. 2nd, the kitchen staff is GREAT as well. i ate in my room because i have a thing about eating in front of people idk. but the girls in the kitchen were great A+. 3rd, the therapy staff is AMAZING. they pushed me and whipped me into shape in no time and they made it look easy and honestly it was fun too A+. the cleaning staff, from the girls who clean rooms, to the girls who do laundry, all did a great job. the only thing i had issue with was the smell of some of the wash clothes. once in a while it was an issue. so for that a B+. 4th, the office staff, maintenance, gift shop lady, the events coordinators, others i may have forgotten, everyone around the building always said hi and were supportive as well, so A+ for that. 5th, now the thing that bothered me most was the medicine issues. it took VERY long to get medicines refilled, to me this isnt acceptable at all. they need to find a different place to get meds from obviously. also to me, again in not a pharmacist but i dont think "tums" are the same as omeprazole. so i guess what im saying is this is a more than adequate place to be, trust me i know, i spent 6 months in another place that was a living hell. awesome place to be but as we all know, nothing is perfect, but this place is close. id have no issues ever going back. so for the reasons above i give it 4 stars and a B+ rating, thank you for your time!! chuck
