Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls is the only place that I would consider placing a loved one in. The are attentive, caring, and the to the employees it is more than a job. They truly care about the residents. We had all 4 parents there over the last 5 1/2 years. Most of the employees cared for all 4 parents, which says a lot about employee loyalty. When you walk in, it feels like home. The residents wave and smile and numerous employees ask how you are doing and if they can get you anything. All of the 4 parents needs were taken care of in a timely manner. An example is that I noticed my Mom was more confused than normal during a visit. I called Sunrise to ask them if we should check for a UTI. They said yes we noticed the change and tested her yesterday. They noticed her confusion change before I did. Our parents and their rooms were always clean and well kept. I can't say enough about the people at Sunrise. They truly were life savers for my husband and I. Don't hesitate to have your loved ones live there!
Phenomenal memory care. All of the staff treat the residents with such care, and use the Teepa Snow school of thought, resulting in compassionate care for the residents living with dementia. I love how it's structured to be a large community area with resident rooms attached. It feels like an actual home, not a cold/sterile nursing home with those long hallways. I love the welcoming central kitchen. To my surprise, the residents all get along and relate to each other well. I'm so glad I have my dad here. Every family member who comes to visit says they love Sunrise and it's so different from what they're used to with assisted living facilities. There are hundreds of decisions you have to make when caregiving for a loved one with dementia, and I feel like I really knocked it out of the park with this decision. I appreciate you, Sunrise staff!
I have been to other assisted living locations in Canton and they competence of the staff at Sunrise is highly appreciated. We are informed promptly when issues arise and don't have to wonder what the status is. My father is always in a good mood when I pick him up for appointments and has never had anything bad to say about the staff. I feel we are lucky to have picked a winner facility for my parents.
Now we are helping our 2nd set of parents. Sunrise again went above and beyond to get my parents into their new home within a week. They take care of all the details with tremendous love and respect. Cannot recommended them highly enough. Your loved one will be taken care of by a loving qualified staff. They know how to handle the transition from their old home to their new home. They taught us how to have a conversation with our parents in our new world of dementia. They truly treat us like family.
My mother has been here since October2019. The staff was incredibly helpful during mom's first week. They counseled with me for a month on what to expect and the best way to handle moving her in. The facility is extremely clean and offers activities for those who are interested. They often have events so that the family can visit and enjoy time together and we are emailed regularly. My mother has adjusted fairly well and trust me she is a stubborn woman! The only downside that I have found, which probably is the case in all assisted living facilities, is communication. There were some misunderstandings regarding medication. If medication is listed as "as needed " then it will not necessarily be given when it's needed. The staff does not always notice when there are potential issues but my mother is pretty good at hiding her issues, so I cannot put all the blame on the facility. It is important that if you have I loved one in any assisted facility,that you visit regularly and check their room for cleanliness . Are they getting their clothes washed, are they hiding things like food in strange places? The caregivers do not have permission to go through the rooms thoroughly, so there are things they may not know. It is still important that you stay actively involved in your loved one's life and care, even when they are at an Assisted Living facility. I am truly blessed to be able to have my mother in such a beautiful place. They clean her room regularly and do a fantastic job. Two of the caregivers, Helen and Reba are absolutely fantastic! They chat with us and let us know funny details about things that my mother does. They have been incredibly helpful and I don't think that the daily caregivers get enough credit for all that they do. We love Helen and Reba!
