My grandmother was a resident at Summerwood for two years, and I can honestly say our experience there was truly exceptional. Memory care is incredibly challenging—not just for the patients, but for their families and the dedicated staff who care for them. Throughout our journey, I was consistently impressed by the compassion, professionalism, and attentiveness of the entire team. The staff at Summerwood were kind, patient, and always attentive to my grandmother’s needs. The facility itself was clean, warm, and inviting, which made visits feel more comforting. They offered activities that helped keep her engaged and connected, even on the difficult days. One moment that stood out was their Thanksgiving event for families—it was thoughtful, heartfelt, and a beautiful reminder that they don’t just care for the residents, but for the families, too. They understood what we were going through and were always available to answer questions or provide reassurance. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s is never easy, but knowing my grandmother was in a place where she was treated with dignity and love made a world of difference. I’m incredibly grateful to the team at Summerwood for the care they provided—not just for her, but for all of us
It's frustrating that this facility doesn't accept Medicaid memory care patients until after a 2-year private pay period. Sometimes it feels like memory care is only for those who are wealthy. That said, Karisti in Summer Wood's marketing department was extremely compassionate and helpful. She recommended other facilities that do accept Medicaid.
although my mother wasn't their for very long from the start she was treated with respect and dignity. my mother was shown that people do care the staff is caring and makes this difficult situation a lot better than otherwise would have been even more difficult . the staff hear also made my mom stay comfortable as they could and they were very responsive of my mom needs i don't know what else to say but thank you for giving my mom the care she needed and showing her her respect and dignity. if you need a place for your loved one summerwood is the place to be.
I have the most upright respect for Summer Wood by the care they give to my mother
The Best of the Best... When talking about Dementia and Alzheimer's, the game of caregiving is taken to a whole different level of care expectations. The mental and physical demands on the caregivers are merciless to say the least. Without a doubt this realm of caregiving far exceeds the practices of the traditional ideas of what caregivers are expected to endure. This team is truly the Navy Seal version of caregivers. They are THE BEST OF THE BEST, and not a one of their veteran staff are faint in heart. They far exceed the expectations of the health industry's idea of what a caregiver should provide as care. To watch them in action, it's evident that they have the heart of the ever famous Seabiscuit race horse; kind in nature, gentle in heart, and determined to be everything that families rely on them to be for the loved ones staying at the facility. When it comes to someone else taking care of your special loved one, there's no such thing as a perfect 10 care facility, but Summer Wood comes in at a strong 9.5 because of it's staff.
