My 95 year old mom, who has dementia, is always treated with dignity and respect. The staff is stable and caring to her and I see that care in their interactions with other residents. Any concerns are addressed right away.
What a wonderful place with such amazing employees and residents. Had my parents just there temporarily and even though it was an emotional time everyone made them feel SO comfortable. Within one short month they were in tears leaving and saying goodbye to all their new friends. The staff and management went out of their way to be accommodating and ease the process.
We are new to the Sunrise of Schaumburg Community, however in the 3 months since we have moved in my mom, it has been a positive experience. Mom has recently transitioned from dementia to Alzheimer's and the need for assistance has outgrown what family can manage to keep mom living independently. The decision to investigate Assisted Living Communities was made in hopes that mom can be in a more supported living environment and hopefully exposed to various things to enrich her day-to-day life through the care and activities that a Community could offer. Sunrise of Schaumburg was head and shoulders above any other Community that I toured. From the first time I met with Jackie Levernier, Director of Sales, I knew that we struck upon what would be a great fit for mom. I felt this immediately in our first tour and found how Jackie's interaction with staff led me to believe that this was common place in the day-to-day operations at Sunrise. I felt the comfort and reassurances immediately for all I encountered that first day. We had such a well thought out plan for the move, however had to escalate it due to mom fracturing her ankle. In the few short days following this diagnosis we were able to fast forward the plan and move mom in. The staff at SOS reassured us that they would be able to handle this surprise escalation of date and additional care mom would need. They helped to handle her increased medical needs, while also helping to assess her and target ways to improve her adjustment to Community. Now three months later, I can reflect on how much we accomplished in such a short period of time. I do not believe we could have accomplished this without the knowledge, expertise, care and reassurances of the care staff and nurses. I highly recommend Sunrise of Schaumburg for those who may be considering an Assisted Living solution.
My mother-in-law spent a week in "respite" at the Schaumburg Sunrise and she loved it. She told me that the staff was the favorite part of her visit, because they are so friendly and willing to help the residents. But she also enjoyed the food, the other residents, the activities and of course, Molly the mellow resident dog. Mom particularly liked the group game of batting a balloon back and forth with pool noodles and morning exercise class, and she looked forward to the food, too. She will going back in summer for a two-week visit, and my husband and I feel very confident about the quality of care she will receive.
Testimony for Sunrise Care of Arthur and Cordelia Bate February 2016-February 2019 The staff at Sunrise cared for my parents for three years. During that time, they lived in the Assisted Living portion of the building for two years and on the Reminiscence (Memory Care) Floor for one year. They started out as mostly independent and slowly went through the phases of needing higher levels of care as time went on. We felt so extremely fortunate to have the people of Sunrise caring for my parents. We lived just down the road but travel frequently for work and always had complete peace of mind that they were in exceptional hands. The staff’s ability to communicate with us on all levels from daily care and concerns to immediate needs or emergencies was superior. One of the reasons we chose Sunrise over other communities in the area was because of the feeling we received the minute we walked in. It is a smaller community than some we had toured and much more intimate and home-like. It was warm, very comfortable, and the people who work there became like family to us over the course of three years. Honestly that has been an unexpected part of the sadness of my parents’ passing—that we don’t get to see all the staff members like we used to! We visited frequently and at all times of the day, all days of the week and at any given time the facility was extremely clean, the residents were well cared for and the staff was incredibly attentive. The smells of meals from the kitchen were always yummy and welcoming. If we had to make the same decision all over again we would do exactly what we did and move my parents into Sunrise of Schaumburg. I can’t begin to say enough about what a difficult thing it is to go through the last years of life with parents and our goal was to make sure they were cared for with respect and dignity and that is exactly what they received at Sunrise of Schaumburg. Thank you, Jennifer Spilman and the Bate Family Submitted on the families behalf
